Hi! My name is Alfie Parnell and I offer hybrid drum lessons to students of all ages and abilities using online services like Zoom, Skype or Facetime.
I am a professional hybrid drum teacher who is primarily based in Leeds but I have recently began offering online lessons to all students no matter where in the world you are. Utilising the power of todays technology, all you would need to get started is a device with a camera on it and an active internet connection. Offering online lessons has been a great way to connect with more students from places all over the world, not just my local area.
When providing online hybrid drum lessons I have multiple camera angles set up, with microphones and other equipment to ensure that we have as close to a face to face lesson as possible. In my experience the lessons provided are great and come very close to us feeling like we are in the room with each other having an ordinary face to face lesson, even if we are at the other side of the country. This also means you can take the lessons from the comfort of your own home, with no need to worry about finding the location, traffic or parking.

The lessons I provide are flexible, tailored and suitable for any student no matter what age or ability you are. Over the years of teaching and playing drums I have worked with students from all walks of life. I am a confident and fluent drummer who can play in a wide range of styles and genres, so together we can get you studying and working through your favorite songs by the artists you love.
I have worked with people of all age ranges starting from as young as 6+. I appreciate that adult learners will learn different to younger students so I will always tailor my lesson material and teaching approach to try and help keep the learner as engaged as possible. Above all else, I will always try and keep my lessons fun and relaxed for anyone who takes lessons with me. Learning an instrument should be fun, so I try to keep it that way!
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
Both beginner and advanced students are welcome to take drum lessons with me. It's not a problem if you have never played drums before or if you've been playing for a while and you're just looking to move to that next level, any student is welcome to take lessons with me.
Introduction to Drums, Simple Songs and Grooves, Basic Rhythms
I am an active musician who alongside my own personal creative works, teaches drums from my home. These lessons are provided using services like Zoom, Skype or Facetime. With over 10 years of performing and gigging experience I am now in a position to begin offering online hybrid drum lessons to all students of any age group.
I have an advanced setup for my online lessons which consists of multiple camera angles being setup, multiple microphones in use and state of the art streaming technology which allows us to recreate the experience of being in the same room together. I understand some people really desire for face to face lessons but with todays technology we can essentially match that experience but from anywhere in the world.
Open to all ages, my main teaching method revolves around a bespoke progression plan for each of my students. I am a fully qualified drummer with a lot of real world gigging and performing experience behind me, having completed two full UK tours. I have also experience working as a session musician with artists of many different genres, in which I have to be flexible and versatile as a drummer.

For my beginner students our lessons will likely be focused on introducing you to the basics of rhythm, with a focus to get you comfortable and grooving as soon as we can. For my more advanced students I provide lessons that study the technique of hybrid drumming. Using the power of todays technology many drummers are pushing the boundaries and limits of music by utilising acoustic drum kits and electronic drum kits together to create the ultimate kit. Many songs nowadays like to mix and blend the genres, and sometimes there are sections that can't be recreated on a real kit or vice versa.
As such many drummers will have an electronic kit attached to their real kit giving them access to an infinite selection of sounds and beats to play with. There is a real art form to incorporating electronic drums at the same time as playing a real acoustic kit too. My lessons will show you and guide you as to what equipment and gear you would need to set something up like this. From there I will provide you with tips, tricks and techniques on how you can incorporate these new sounds in to your regular beats and drum grooves. This opens a whole world of further musical creative options for you to try.
Hybrid drumming requires a good amount of precision and timing on your drum kit so I would mainly recommend these lessons for advanced and higher skilled drummers. Learning how to hybrid drum is a great way to help those drummers who may have found themselves stuck in a creative rut, as it gives you so many more possibilities of what you can do with your kit. People exploring these technologies and sounds in more recent years have really helped push the limits and boundaries of drumming in general to that next level.

Here is some information to help you get prepared to take your online drum lessons.
Speed Test, is a very useful tool as having a stable internet connection is one of the most important parts to these lessons. Here you will be able to see what your speeds are and we will only need a speed of 3mbps to have a stable enough connection for the lessons.
As well as a stable internet connection you will need to have access to some kind of electronic device that has a camera on it. This could be things like a laptop, tablet or a smartphone. Many things have cameras on them nowadays so once we have access to one of these you are ready to go.
Once you have a device ready to go, there are many services we can use to connect for the actual lessons. The most common and reliable service tends to be Zoom. If this doesn't work things like Skype or Facetime for Apple device users are also an option.
My job as an online drum teacher is to provide you with all the knowledge and skills that you will need to be able to play your favorite songs by your favorite artists, or to learn specialist techniques such as hybrid drumming all from the comfort of your own home. I am very passionate about what I do and take pride in offering the highest quality drum lessons that I can.

Lessons are £10 for half an hours tuition.
Lessons are provided online using services such as Zoom, Facetime or Skype. There are others we can try but these tend to work fine for the majority of people.
I teach students of all ages 6+.
No you can attend lessons as and when you like. I would recommend one hour a week for the most consistent progress.
Any lessons cancelled within 48 hours can still be charged for. I am happy to reschedule cancelled lessons where possible.
