I like to make sure my lessons are both enjoyable and fun for all of my students.
I find that students who enjoy what they learn always make better progress so I will make sure to always keep the lessons familiar and in a direction that you'd like to learn in.

My lessons are always built around my students and I would much prefer it if we learned in a direction that you would like to learn in.
I like to make sure we learn music from the bands and artists that you love as well as making sure you gain a solid understanding of music and theory to back up your playing ability.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.
I'm comfortable teaching both beginners and advanced players in a wide range of styles. I can also teach both young learners and adults.

After graduating with a Music Performance Diploma from the Academy of Music & Sound in 2014, I set up my own drum school in Cumbernauld called Gary G Drums. Since then I’ve been teaching drum lessons Monday to Thursday during the evening every week.
I’ve been learning drums and session drumming for over 17 years with various pop, rock and metal bands to singer/songwriter artists, ceilidh and wedding/functions bands.
From my first gig at 13 years old to touring the world opening for my favourite bands I’ve also appeared live on TV & YouTube, filming numerous music videos and playing festivals such as SXSW Austin Texas, MIDI Fest Schenzen China, MUSIC MATTERS Singapore, BELLADRUM, CELTIC CONNECTIONS & XPO NORTH Scotland, THE GREAT ESCAPE Festival England & many more.
I can teach a wide range of genres including Pop, Rock, Funk, Metal, Reggae, Blues, R&B, Hip Hop & Country
I can teach everything you need to know from beginner to advanced, grade 1 to grade 8 and all ages and abilities are welcome. When you book a drum lesson with me, I’ll create a custom lesson plan using the RockSchool & Trinity Graded Exam Syllabus complimented with my own material.
Whether it’s aiming to play your favourite songs, help with school or college exams, mastering the rudiments, understanding music theory or simply just learning to play for fun, let me help you achieve your drumming goals!
I can also facilitate online drum lessons through Zoom or Skype calls if you prefer! I have limited slots but will always try to fit you in.
Music Shops In The Area
Cumbernauld isn't known for having a wide range of stores available but it does have a few. For more options I'd recommend travelling into Glasgow for more shops and music venues.
KD Music, Is a great small shop where you can buy and sell second hand gear. Sometimes you can pick up a real bargain. You can find them at 3 Forth Walk, Town Centre, G67 1BT.
Cumbernauld Theatre, is the obvious choice when it comes to a live venue in the area. This place has regular performances as well as events. You can find them at Kildrum, Cumbernauld G67 2BN.
Submarine Nightclub, is a nightclub and music venue that regularly has live music on weekends. You'll often see live acts performing here from the area. They are on 2 St Mungo’s walk, Cumbernauld, Glasgow G67 1QP.

My lessons are charged at £24 per hour for all students.
I take the majority of my lessons from my specialised teaching space in the G67 2BD area of Cumbernauld.
I have experience in teaching both young learners over 7 years old and adults & offer my lessons to anyone over the age of 7.
Weekly lessons are recommended, however, not essential and totally depend on your availability. You may take lessons as and when is good for you.
Please note that Drum Lessons Cumbernauld operated a 4824-hour cancellation policy. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will still be charged at full price.
