I am extremely passionate about music, having played the piano from the age of 5, drums from age 9, guitar from age 14 and bass guitar from age 19. I began gigging as a drummer around the age of 15, and was hooked straight away! I knew then all I wanted to do was play and teach drums professionally, which I’ve been doing now for the last 15 years.

Advantages of Learning How to Play Drums

Enhances Coordination and Motor Skills

Drum playing requires the use of both hands and feet, making it an excellent way to enhance coordination and motor skills. From mastering the snare drum to playing the bass drum, each part of the drum kit helps develop different muscle groups. This improvement in coordination is beneficial not only for drumming but also for playing other instruments and participating in activities that require intricate motor skills.

Boosts Mental Health

Engaging in drum lessons can have a positive impact on your mental health. The rhythmic patterns and the act of playing can be meditative, reducing stress and anxiety. Many drum students find that drumming allows them to express their emotions and serves as a therapeutic outlet. As your drum tutor, I'll ensure the lessons are enjoyable and help create a mindful experience, making each hour spent behind the drum kit valuable for your mental well-being.

Builds Confidence and Discipline

Learning the drums, whether through in-person or online lessons, helps build confidence and discipline. As you advance from a beginner to more complex drumming styles, you'll achieve milestones that boost your self-esteem.

My tailored approach to teaching, applicable to children and adults alike, focuses on making each lesson here at Drum Lessons Bristol the stepping stone to greater achievements. With consistent practice and guidance, you'll build the discipline needed to excel as a drummer and possibly even perform in front of an audience.

Encourages Social Interaction

Drums also offer ample opportunities for social interaction. Joining a band, participating in drum workshops, or meeting other drum players in Bristol can help you make new friends and expand your social circle.
