My Experience as a Teacher

I have been a professional drummer for around the last 10+ years. Alongside my many years teaching drums, I have also been an active performing musician who has played countless numbers of gigs and tours across the country. I specialise in teaching my students the graded syllabus which I feel is a great way to learn as it's fun and rewarding. These types of qualifications can count towards you getting in to future music schools and other musical opportunities.

I remember sitting behind a drum kit for the first time when I was 12 years old and I still feel just as excited when I sit behind a kit now, as I did back then playing it for the very first time. It is my passion and joy to pass on the skills and knowledge that I have obtained from playing the drums all these years, on to my students and seeing them grow and develop in to the drummer that they have always wanted to be.

As a drum teacher I teach a combination of lessons. Some of my lessons are provided privately to individual students and others are provided in the local schools in my area to small groups of children. Since 2020 I have started delivering online drum lessons too which have been a great way to connect and help many other students from all over the world and not just in my local area. I find that thanks to the power of modern day technology these lessons are just as effective as face to face.

More About My Lessons

Alongside developing my teaching business I have also been working on educational YouTube channel that I am hoping will act as a solid learning resource alongside the lessons themselves. This channel will have videos showing every song and exercise from the four main drum kit syllabuses (Trinity Rock & Pop, Trinity College London, Rockschool (RSL) and Rockschool Classics).

I consider myself a well experienced drummer that can provide lessons to suit any genre or style. I have had the pleasure of performing at venues as well as things like weddings and functions too. A few personal highlights of some of my favorite shows I've played would be Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Hotels in Oman, Ships around Scandinavia and Ronnie Scotts in London to name a few.

Through all this time spent touring and performing I developed a strong love and passion for teaching. I have spent 3 years teaching locally in schools in my area. I had great success teaching the Trinity Rock and Pop Syllabus with my students achieving Merits and Distinction from Grade 1 to Grade 4. I have also worked in secondary schools which I have had students who have gone on to complete the higher grades up to grade 8.
