My passion for education quickly grew during my time at university. After learning all the amazing things vocal coaching could do for a singers voice, I dived into the why’s and how’s. I found great pleasure in sharing all that I had learned with the upcoming generations and have since been keen to keep researching what helps us to learn, as well as keeping myself constantly learning, to help me help others achieve their musical goals. I have been teaching singing to all ages and abilities for over 7 years, as well as piano from beginners to grade 5. I’ve been singing for over 15 years myself. I am a vocal health and development specialist, and really enjoy delivering healthy singing habits in a fun and relaxed environment.

Music is my passion! I want to be able to pass that onto music students. I myself have had lessons from a very young age. I’m looking for beginner singing students. Whether it’s for fun or you would like to work towards prep and graded exams. I can teach the majority of genres ranging from Musical Theatre, Jazz, Pop, Classical, Rock and I’m sure a few more. I am also able to do a basic piano accompaniment or I have high-quality backing tracks. All the singing lessons will be tailored around each student’s individual abilities. I have experience with young children as I used to be a nursery assistant. I would help put together singing and music time for the children, involving sensory music toys. As well as teaching from home, I can offer Zoom/video call lessons. I’ve enjoyed so many musical moments over the years. It’s taught me confidence and how to be proud of myself. I hope for all my students to come out of their lesson feeling proud and feel that they have achieved something. If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me. I have 20 years of professional experience teaching singing to students of school age, teens, young adults and adult learners. I work with professionals in the musical theatre and pop industries and have students in West End, touring and international shows. I have sung my entire life but really only learned to like my voice in my late teens. Having experienced anxiety, loss of confidence, low self esteem and perfectionism throughout my life, I am able to support and understand students who may also be experiencing similar issues. I am an accomplished pianist, so can support students musically, with audition material and a wide range of repertoire across different genres. I believe in working with a person as a whole and I draw on elements of the life experience and practical knowledge that I have of singing, performing, writing and recording. I teach across styles including musical theatre, pop, rock, R&B, classical and folk and use the tools that work best intuitively. I draw on elements from various sources, models, methods and just plain common sense and am always looking to broaden my knowledge and skill set. The most important thing for me is to encourage students to feel empowered and to provide them with the support and reassurance they need to find, release and to sing with their own, true voice, and to accept and respect who they are as individuals. No one sounds the same and no one is the same.
I am an enthusiastic singing teacher with over ten years of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities. In my lessons, I work with pupils to establish a good, healthy technique and to develop their unique, natural sound in a positive and relaxed environment. I am experienced in teaching students in a variety of styles ranging from classical, musical theatre and popular. Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, I can help you gain confidence with your singing and achieve your singing goals. I have an updated enhanced DBS check. I have successfully prepared students for ABRSM and Trinity exams (prep test to Diploma level), music scholarships, auditions and concerts. The majority of my students have received merit or distinction results in their examinations. Recent student successes include entry into prestigious music conservatoires, distinctions at Grade 8 level, including ABRSM and Trinity Rock and Pop, music scholarships to universities and schools, and a highly sought after place in Winchester Cathedral Choir. I can also prepare pupils for ABRSM theory exams up to Grade 5. Lessons can take place in person in Claygate, Kingston or online via zoom. I have experience working with a diverse range of students, including those with severe learning difficulties, including autism. I understand that every student is unique and adapt my teaching to suit the needs of different students. Alongside a teaching career, I am a professional mezzo-soprano with regular performance experience in opera, oratorio and recitals. During my studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, I participated in a mentor scheme with English National Opera. ln 2018, I co-founded the opera company Grassroots Opera, co-directing and performing the role of Orfeo in Gluck’s ‘Orfeo ed Euridice’ in a tour of the West Country. I have recently performed as a soloist and in the ensemble with the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company as part of the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Festival at Buxton Opera House. Performing highlights include the role of Lelio in the UK premiere of Viardot’s Le Dernier Sorcier with Gothic Opera, being a Young Artist with Bury Court Opera, performing in the ensemble of mad voices and covering the title role in the premiere of Mad King Suibhne (Noah Mosley) and being selected as a finalist in the Schubert Song Prize, singing in a masterclass with Dame Felicity Lott, for the London Song Festival.

Singing lessons: what to expect
Singing lessons near you
The best singing lessons near you aren’t just about distance — they’re about a coach who helps you build your voice safely and consistently. Search by location to find in-person singing lessons, or choose online lessons to access specialist vocal coaches for pop, musical theatre, rock, classical, and exam preparation.
Who singing lessons are for
Singing lessons are for complete beginners through to experienced performers. Lessons can be tailored for children, teenagers, and adults — whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence, joining a band or choir, or returning to singing after a break.
What you’ll learn in singing lessons
Most students work on breath control, pitch, tone, range, vocal agility, and song interpretation. A good vocal coach will also help you practise effectively, warm up safely, and build vocal stamina — so you improve without strain.
Online vs in-person singing lessons
Online singing lessons can be highly effective for technique, consistency, and flexible scheduling — especially with an experienced coach. In-person lessons can feel more immersive and are great if you prefer face-to-face feedback and hands-on guidance.
A simple learning path for singing
A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.
Learn healthy breathing, posture, warm-ups, and simple exercises to improve pitch accuracy and reduce strain while building confidence.
Develop stronger breath support, resonance and tone control, smoother transitions between registers, and start expanding your usable range.
Improve vocal agility, dynamics, phrasing and expression, build stamina for longer songs, and develop performance skills — tailored to your style and goals.
Getting started: what you need
Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.
- No kit required: you can start with your voice, a phone recorder, and a quiet room.
- Hydration and warm-ups matter more than volume — good singing is built on consistency, not pushing.
- If learning online: headphones and a stable internet connection make lessons smoother.
Styles & goals your teacher can support
Choose a direction — lessons can be tailored around what you actually want to play.
