Hi, I’m Rob Greco — guitarist, educator, and lifelong music enthusiast based right here in Nottingham. I founded Guitar Lessons Nottingham with one simple mission: to help people discover the joy of playing guitar, no matter their age or experience level. With over a decade of teaching and performing under my belt, I’ve worked with students from all walks of life — from total beginners picking up their first chord to advanced players refining their technique. My lessons are built around your goals, your style, and your pace. Whether you're into acoustic storytelling, electric solos, blues grooves, or indie riffs, I’ll help you find your sound and sharpen your skills. I believe learning guitar should be fun, challenging, and deeply rewarding. That’s why I focus on practical playing, musical creativity, and building confidence — not just theory and drills. My studio is a relaxed, supportive space where mistakes are part of the process and progress is always celebrated. So if you’re ready to start your guitar journey — or take it to the next level — I’d love to help you get there.
Hi there to all, my name is Jay and I’ve been teaching on and off for 5 years, in between my day job which is writing treatments for TV commercials. So I teach basic vocal training for beginners with a view to helping improve your gig smartness to get you to gig ready for playing with bands or playing solo, or to get you started to play at an open mic night if that’s your desire. I also teach basic guitar studies and songwriting, once again, with a view to getting you ready to find other musicians, get connected to help you along your musical journey as I can, if that’s your wish, i.e. accompany you at an open mic night gig etc. So please get in touch and let’s start your search to find your true voice. Music Qualifications & Achievements: Started gigging 1990, fronting my first band, toured the whole of England and Scotland and played every place in London we could possibly play for 3 years. I also recorded an album for E.M. I then sung live backing vocals for various artists in London between 1993 till 1996 whilst promoting my open mic nights of which I would accompany artists instrumentally with the cajon, guitar (acoustic and electric ), bass congas, harmonica and backing vocals. Joined a band playing bass for 2 years recorded a studio album, gigged extensively once more. Then joined my last band in 98 and released an album on Boy George’s label a year later, promoting the album at Leeds, reading new band stage ,which lead us to get a better deal with Clive Davis and J Records. Then I moved to L.A to complete the second album, and even though the band does not exist I still write with the singer of that said band to this day, who I work with on commercials i.e. treatments and composing music for TV commercials. In terms of musical qualifications, I’m self-taught but have a wealth of experience that I have acquired through my travels and have worked with artists from many different genres from folk, pop, rock, soul-funk, reggae jazz, punk and metal with whatever was asked of me at the time which I think gives me a unique insight in how to approach these styles from professional and informal situations. All in all my musical journey has really enriched my skill set and my life.
Hi I’m David. I am highly passionate about passing on musical knowledge; approaches to learn or strengthen the building blocks of music- melody, harmony and rhythm. I teach: • Guitar • Ukulele • Trumpet • Songwriting • Music Theory & Ear Training • Singing whilst accompanying yourself My teaching style is for ALL ages and tailored towards each individual student. I will teach you to connect your voice, to your ear to your instrument. Your initial lesson with me will involve a discussion about your relationship with music- what you like and what you’d like to learn. On any instrument my approach is based around songs and tunes, extracting worthwhile exercises to develop both your technique, music theory and train your ear. I will also help you to develop the confidence and connection to truly express yourself through music. As a teacher and as an artist this is my foundation. Whether you are a beginner playing your first notes, a songwriter looking to bring new colours to your compositions or a more intermediate player enhancing your technique, we will develop consistent ways to practice and enjoy your journey. After all finding the fun in learning music helps us to stick with it. About Me: I am a professional singer / songwriter / guitarist & trumpeter, a formerly signed recording artist on DB records in the noughties. I started playing the guitar at the age of 10 and began performing as the lead singer in bands from the age of 13. I have fronted bands professionally in the folk-rock, soul & pop vein for over 30 years. I think these experiences give me an interesting perspective to pass on in that I have done a lot of recording, including work with producer Tim Oliver and have played loads of gigs with various professional musicians including Charlie Jones (Goldfrapp, Robert Plant), Clive Deamer (Robert Plant, Radiohead, Get The Blessing) and Jack Atherton (Jake Bugg). In the last decade I added the trumpet and the study of jazz to my own musical repertoire. Due to the complexities that come with trumpet technique, jazz harmony and improvisation I found that this was the most methodical I’ve been about learning and practising an instrument. The process was humbling so I sincerely am with you, every step of the way as you learn. I have formed a deeper connection to the idea of music as a language rather than some given talent. I strongly believe that most people can develop good musical skills with the right approach and consistent practice.
Hello, my name is Marcela and I am a patient and enthusiastic guitar (acoustic/electric) and ukulele tutor. I have taught guitar for three years, which includes individuals and small groups, both children and adults. We work on songs/pieces that you feel passionate about. Music theory, technique, scales, etc. happen as we work on THE SONGS. I believe that learning should be fun and making mistakes is a part of all learning. The lessons can be very flexible, depending on your needs. I provide all the materials for the lessons but we can use a handbook if you prefer. For online lessons, we can use an interactive platform to make the lesson time fun and efficient. You may want to learn guitar for enjoyment but if you are more technique and grades driven, please note that I’m most familiar with RGT exams (under London College of Music). My name is Mark Leivers and I am a professional guitar teacher from Derby with a wealth of experience in teaching and performing. I started playing the guitar as a child and it has been my passion ever since. I have immersed myself in a variety of styles from classical to pop, from rock to reggae! This has allowed me to play with many different bands/artists which has helped me to strengthen my playing by incorporating many different styles and techniques. Whether you want to learn to play your favourite songs, work towards graded examinations or work on improving technique, I offer tuition in a friendly and engaging environment. All students are welcome from complete beginners to seasoned players, I tailor lessons to suit you and the type of player you want to become. While learning to play the guitar I can teach you how to read music and learn songs by ear which are invaluable tools for any musician! I can also teach you to improvise with other musicians which is an extremely fun skill to have while also being a key technique in any versatile guitar player’s arsenal. The guitar is an incredible instrument and one that is immensely rewarding to be able to play. Like learning any new skill, the guitar will be challenging at times but most importantly it will be fun, and at least for me, that’s the only reason I play!

Guitar lessons: what to expect
The best guitar lessons near you aren’t just about distance — they’re about a teacher who helps you progress with clarity. Search by location to find in-person guitar lessons, or choose online lessons to access specialist teachers for acoustic, electric, fingerstyle, rock, or grades.
Guitar lessons work for complete beginners, intermediate players, and advanced students. Lessons can be tailored for children, teenagers, or adults returning to guitar — with a focus on the styles and songs you actually want to play.
Most students work on chord fluency, rhythm, strumming feel, scales, finger placement, and repertoire. A good teacher will also structure your practice so you build confidence and technique without getting stuck.
Online guitar lessons can be highly effective, especially for busy schedules and specialist tuition. In-person lessons can feel more hands-on and are great if you prefer local support and face-to-face feedback.
A simple learning path for guitar
A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.
Learn posture, tuning, chord changes, strumming patterns, and how to practise without building bad habits.
Build a steady sense of timing, expand chord vocabulary (including barre chords), and play full songs with confidence.
Develop picking, fingerstyle, lead basics, improvisation foundations, or exam preparation — depending on your goals.
Getting started: what you need
Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.
- Acoustic vs electric: your teacher can recommend what fits your music taste and comfort.
- A tuner + a few picks is enough to start — then add a capo or strap as you progress.
- A simple practice routine beats long sessions: aim for consistency, not intensity.
Styles & goals your teacher can support
Choose a direction — lessons can be tailored around what you actually want to play.
Chord progressions, strumming feel, accompaniment patterns, and building a set of songs.
Riffs, power chords, pentatonic shapes, bends, vibrato, and solo phrasing.
Right-hand patterns, independence, tone control, and arranging songs for solo guitar.
Technique, repertoire, sight-reading or musicianship skills, and a clear practice plan.
