Lessons Tailored To You
I began teaching guitar at the age of 18, just before going to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I honed my teaching skills whilst still a student myself and have since had many pupils, from children to middle-aged people, with various interests and abilities. Coming from a classical background and having studied more contemporary styles including jazz, I can cater to whatever genre a student is interested in, whilst emphasising key fundamentals such as reading notation and basic harmonic understanding.

Acoustic Guitar Vs Electric Guitar
When it comes to learning guitar, one of the first decisions my students face is choosing between an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar. Each has its unique features suited to different playing styles and preferences, and I've guided many guitar students in Manchester to find the perfect fit for their musical journey.
Acoustic Guitar
An acoustic guitar is a fantastic choice for beginners, offering simplicity and versatility, whilst providing a wide range of musical options. It's ideal for those who want to focus on learning chords and playing new songs without needing extra equipment. Acoustic guitars have a warm, rich tone, making them perfect for genres like folk, classical, and even rock ballads. I often recommend acoustic guitars to guitar students who enjoy playing solo or singing along.
With acoustic lessons, we can build skills like fingerpicking and strumming techniques, all while exploring music that you love. Whether you're a beginner looking for your guitar first lesson or an advanced player wanting to refine your sound, I tailor my teaching to your level. Plus, acoustic guitars are easy to carry, which is great if you're practicing at home or out and about in Manchester.
Electric Guitar
For students more drawn to rock, blues, or bands that perform on stage, an electric guitar might be the better option. These guitars are amplified, producing a distinct sound that’s perfect for dynamic solos or playing with a group. Teaching how to play electric guitar is always rewarding because it opens up a world of creativity and fun. With more tone and effect options, you can experiment with different sounds, from clean melodies to distortion-heavy riffs.
If you’ve dreamed of performing live or joining a band, I can help you develop the skills needed to bring your music to life. From basic techniques to advanced players mastering complex solos, my guitar lessons focus on building confidence and stage presence. Electric guitar lessons also tend to attract students excited about rock and pop genres, which are always exciting to explore during lessons.
Choosing the Right Guitar for You
Both acoustic and electric guitars offer incredible opportunities to grow as a musician. The choice often depends on the type of music you want to play and how much you're ready to invest in extra equipment like amps or pedals. As an experienced guitar tutor in Manchester, I can help you make this decision and ensure you feel comfortable with your choice.
No matter which guitar you choose, I want to make your learning experience fun, engaging, and tailored to you. Whether you're just starting or you've already mastered the basics, I offer professional lessons in Manchester to help you achieve your goals. Plus, I work with students of all ages—kids, beginners, advanced players, anyone who wants to learn something new. If you're ready to start today, get in touch so we can plan your future lessons.
