I began teaching guitar at the age of 18, just before going to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I honed my teaching skills whilst still a student myself and have since had many pupils, from children to middle-aged people, with various interests and abilities. Coming from a classical background and having studied more contemporary styles including jazz, I can cater to whatever genre a student is interested in, whilst emphasising key fundamentals such as reading notation and basic harmonic understanding. Many of my older students have wanted to develop their technique just enough to be able to play through some pop songs, so I now consider myself quite adept at identifying aspects of a person’s playing which when fixed can really elevate their playing. It’s important to me that I make learning the guitar enjoyable as well as informative, so I try to make lessons as interactive and as fun as possible. As well as my main instrument guitar, I also play bass, drums, synthesiser, sequencer and sing. I studied Popular Music and Recording at the University of Salford, specialising in jazz guitar performance, studio composition & recording and the music business. My knowledge comes from a wide mixture of previously running a very successful underground live music venue in Manchester, recording and videos for bands through my production label, performing for a large number of acts across the UK/Europe and more recently getting my own workshop repairing and building custom guitars. Hi I’m Charlie! I teach piano, guitar, bass and ukulele and have counted to over 10,000 hours of music lessons throughout my career. After obtaining my music degree (BMus Hons) in 2014, I began teaching music in multiple schools and private institutions, gradually building up to a personal network of private students. Having been in so many different musical interactions has kept me agile as a teacher and be aware of the versatility required to master the art of tuition. I began doing one-to-one lessons online at the start of lockdown in 2020, realising it was the only way to progress as a teacher and for also students to progress. During this time I discovered the advantage of learning an instrument in the comfort of your own home, whilst having the same quality as a face to face lesson, which led to rapid developments of my students! For many aspiring musicians, the thought of learning to play can be daunting; therefore as a tutor I provide an engaging and supportive learning environment that helps students build confidence and improve their playing ability. When I am not teaching, I perform in multiple bands and compose and release solo music. One of my favourite aspects of music is the aspect of composition; taking your own musical influences and toying around with them to create something unique is a thrilling experience! Since teaching in 2016, I have had a 100 percent pass rate with students entered in Guitar, Bass and Piano grades, from 1-8, mainly achieving the highest credentials! My name is Huw Thomas I am a classically trained singer and vocal coach as well as a professional singer-songwriter and musician. I graduated from Leeds College of Music, first study in classical voice in 2016. I currently play in the UK band Huw Eddy & The Carnival signed to international agency Midnight Mango. I have a great deal of experience teaching students of all ages both classical and contemporary vocals and across all genres and styles. In our lessons, we will focus on building solid foundations in terms of a strong and healthy technique that will filter into your chosen style. It’s about working from the ground up so that you can unlock your voices full potential. Whatever you want to achieve even if it is singing your favourite song from start to finish or getting the best out of your original material, I will work with you to put the structures of posture, breath control and pitch accuracy in place. My name is Luca Tagliafico and I’m a guitarist and third-year student of Popular Music & Recording at the University of Salford. During this course, I am specialising in Pop & Jazz performance and Studio Production. In my personal music study path, I had the great possibility to study with guitar teachers like Beppe Pini in Como, Italy and with Mel Dean at the University of Salford. Whilst studying I have been performing as a session musician with few Manchester bands and specialise myself as a producer as well. Alongside I am active with my own band as well as with personal music productions. I’m currently teaching guitar to students of different ages and abilities both privately at home and for a music school in Manchester. I do also have previous experience back in Italy where I’m from, having collaborated with a private music school for a couple of years. During this experience I was teaching to groups of children aged 7-10, formulating lesson plans and developing the students’ music knowledge. I am able to teach a variety of different students from beginners to advanced level, focusing mainly on Pop, Rock, Funk, Jazz and Acoustic styles.
