Hello, My name is Cristina. I am Portuguese, living in London since 2020, also with other living experiences in London, especially as a Music and Instrument Teacher at the Students. I can teach speaking in English or Portuguese or French. If the Students prefer, I can also rent a Music room for the Lessons, with a Piano. The Students chose the Programs they wish to follow. It can be with preparation for ABRSM or TRINITY Exams, in Instrument and Music Theory, etc. Or a free Program that I will adapt related to each Student. If wished, I also prepare the Students for Concerts for the end of each School Term: Christmas, Easter and end of School Year, for the Students to perform with me for their families and friends. I also teach and support on Composition / Music Theory. If wished, I can also get books or instruments and other Music Material for the Students with my ISM discount, as a member of the Independent Society of Musicians. I have been a passionate musician for 15 years, specialising in guitar. I have been composing music and performing professionally for 7 years, have experience teaching one to one guitar lessons and have led music workshops in primary and secondary schools. I am currently in Year 2 studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. I teach beginners and intermediate students, guiding and challenging them towards their musical goals. Lessons are designed in a bespoke way to incorporate theory and practice, taking student preferences into account to ensure lessons are relevant, fun and exciting.

In my online guitar lessons I teach classical guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and 12-string guitar. My guitar lessons cover chord, scale and arpeggio vocabulary, rhythm & lead playing, improvisation, technique, relevant music theory and much more. I teach most styles of music including rock, pop, blues, jazz, folk and a little bit of metal and flamenco. I have a degree in classical music and have been giving guitar lessons for over 25 years. In my online ukulele lessons, I teach soprano, concert and tenor ukulele and most styles of music. I am a classically trained guitarist, and apply that knowledge to the ukulele. I enjoy teaching classical music on the ukulele as well as rock, pop and blues etc. In my online music theory lessons, I teach music reading, analysis, harmony, rhythm, scale/chord/arpeggio/key relationships, songwriting and much more. I also cover relevant music theory in my ukulele and guitar lessons. I am based in Kennington, London, and I teach online. My online lessons are delivered via Zoom. I have a state of the art teaching setup: high definition video, broadcast quality microphone and studio quality guitar processing. This is all professionally mixed so that you get the best experience possible during your online lesson. I am a professional secondary school music teacher offering 1-on-1 Rock School and Trinity Rock and Pop  guitar lessons for pupils of all ages. Lessons are typically 30 mins to 1 hour in length. These can be delivered in person or online, whatever suits you. We review the curriculum together and tailor lessons to suit your learning style. We set up realistic targets and you will be supported every step of the way to help take your guitar playing to the next level. A stereotypical lesson would consist of: 1) Warm up exercises and technical skills 2) A play through of material learnt in the previous lesson/home practice, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. 3) Addressing these areas and polishing your technique. 4) Pushing forward and learning new content. 5) Setting targets to be completed for the next lesson in your own home practice. My skills and expertise include playing the electric guitar, acoustic guitars, bass guitar and piano. I have an eclectic musical taste but my main influences derive from rock and metal music. I am based in the Elephant and Castle  area located very close to train, underground and bus stops for easy access for students. The point of learning an instrument, it seems to me, is to be free to do what you like, express what you wish and travel as far in fulfilling that quest as you can. Obviously there are some hurdles in the way but if you benefit from a proper explanation of some the more abstruse aspects of musicianship and how they might assist you in your quest you're likely to be a lot happier about it. This I try to do. Adult learners can have some concerns about their abilities and may suffer a degree of discomfort at being a novice in a field they have little knowledge of that younger types are untroubled by. Don't let this stop you. Difficulties will be overcome in no time and once you realise that music is not some arcane field that only the mysteriously gifted can have access to you'll have a lot of fun. I understand that there can be many mental and physical barriers to learning music, and over my many years of experience as a teacher, I have always found a way around them for my students. I have a very deep understanding of technique and theory, having spent half my life practicing guitar. I have spent years researching how to play guitar and bass using the least possible physical effort, employing musculature and gravity efficiently. I can show you how good tone is produced and how to build coordination. I am familiar with a huge range of music and can show you songs and pieces to learn that are not only suited to your interests and skill level, but will also give you foundational skills that will make the next songs you learn easier. Above all, if there’s any music you want to learn, I will find a way to get you playing it as soon as possible. For those students interested in doing grades, I am experienced with getting students prepared for exams, and am familiar with the repertoire in most of the grade books including Trinity Classical and Rock/Pop, ABRSM Classical and Plectrum, as well as Rockschool and RGT grades.
