Hi, I’m a very experienced, highly qualified, music teacher, providing 1-1 singing, piano, keyboard and music theory lessons, teaching from my home studio in Willen Park, Milton Keynes. My aim is to have fun whilst creating a solid foundation from which you can learn and progress to be able to play or sing to a high standard. Distinctions are always aimed for in exams and in nearly all cases my pupils have achieved distinctions or merits. Whilst always striving to achieve high marks, the emphasis is also about developing a real love of music that can last a lifetime! I am an enthusiastic, fun, kind and patient teacher who always aims to ensure my pupils leave their lessons feeling proud of themselves and happy with their progress. I ensure that they are always clear about what they need to practise at home in order to improve and succeed. I also use different exam boards as I see fit, tailoring each lesson for each pupil to maximise their potential and match their preferences regards style and genre as well as technical aims and exam settings. I also help people (adults and children) prepare for auditions and competitions. Much success has been achieved including passing music aptitude tests to get into chosen secondary schools, entry to chosen performing arts schools, gold and silver medals in competitions and even first place in a national pop singer competition! Exams can often be recorded here in my home studio which is very well equipped with a beautiful grand piano, various keyboards, microphone and amp, plus a whole library of sheet music. And a desk for written theory work. I have a few spaces left! Please get in touch!

A Bit About Me… I am 26 and I live in a village in Northamptonshire with my husband and our dog (aka the love of my life!) Dexter, who will no doubt make the odd appearance! I love singing, playing piano, writing songs/ compositions and helping others achieve their musical goals. I have been teaching for 3 years now and wouldn’t change it for the world – it is a joy seeing students progress and being part of their music journey. My background is in classical music and I trained with ABRSM which is where I got my qualifications, however I sing a variety of genres including country and western, pop, jazz, singer/songwriter and classical. I have been in various productions including Annie The Musical (playing Grace), Bugsy Malone & Grease (playing Sandy). I have also appeared at various charity balls and performed for sports stars such as Ian Wright after receiving invitations from the local Mayors who had seen me perform at a previous event invite which was a great honour. Within singing lessons we will cover – Pitch accuracy, breath control, range extension, harmonising, diction, performance, sight singing, recording, and piano accompaniment skills if of interest. Within piano lessons we will cover – Basics of piano, chords, scales, arpeggios, sight reading and most excitingly… how to play your favourite songs! GRADING OFFERED WITH ABRSM/ TRINITY/ ROCK SCHOOL. I offer a fun and friendly approach, whilst ensuring we stay productive so that students get the most out of their sessions. I understand it can be daunting at first, so keep things relaxed in the hope the nerves soon disappear! I am qualified with ABRSM. I hold a clear DBS check, certificate available. 5* rated by students. Please see reviews at Courtney Winterson Music on Facebook or in the photo section of this profile. Singing lessons: what to expect

Singing lessons near you

The best singing lessons near you aren’t just about distance — they’re about a coach who helps you build your voice safely and consistently. Search by location to find in-person singing lessons, or choose online lessons to access specialist vocal coaches for pop, musical theatre, rock, classical, and exam preparation.

Who singing lessons are for

Singing lessons are for complete beginners through to experienced performers. Lessons can be tailored for children, teenagers, and adults — whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence, joining a band or choir, or returning to singing after a break.

What you’ll learn in singing lessons

Most students work on breath control, pitch, tone, range, vocal agility, and song interpretation. A good vocal coach will also help you practise effectively, warm up safely, and build vocal stamina — so you improve without strain.

Online vs in-person singing lessons

Online singing lessons can be highly effective for technique, consistency, and flexible scheduling — especially with an experienced coach. In-person lessons can feel more immersive and are great if you prefer face-to-face feedback and hands-on guidance.

A simple learning path for singing

A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.

Weeks 1–4: Breath, pitch & confidence
1

Learn healthy breathing, posture, warm-ups, and simple exercises to improve pitch accuracy and reduce strain while building confidence.

Months 2–3: Control, tone & range
2

Develop stronger breath support, resonance and tone control, smoother transitions between registers, and start expanding your usable range.

Months 3–6: Style, performance & stamina
3

Improve vocal agility, dynamics, phrasing and expression, build stamina for longer songs, and develop performance skills — tailored to your style and goals.

Getting started: what you need

Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.

  • No kit required: you can start with your voice, a phone recorder, and a quiet room.
  • Hydration and warm-ups matter more than volume — good singing is built on consistency, not pushing.
  • If learning online: headphones and a stable internet connection make lessons smoother.

Styles & goals your teacher can support

Choose a direction — lessons can be tailored around what you actually want to play.
