I studied at Trinity College of Music and the Royal College of Music Opera School. I have taught singing in London, County Durham and Cambridgeshire (Peterborough Regional College as lecturer in Singing and Music Drama). The teaching encompasses classical technique, song interpretation, foreign language coaching (German, French and Italian) and stage/platform presentation. With styles including Oratorio/Opera, Art Song and Popular. My students have varied from beginners to diploma standard and from children to adults. I have worked and studied with coaches and singers of international reputation including Graziella Sciutti, Adele Leigh, Graham Clark, John Wakefield, Claudio Desderi, Norman Bailey and Sir Geraint Evans. I also teach via Skype, FaceTime and Zoom for students who are interested in learning online. Performing/Recording Experience: I have worked regularly as a soloist for various professional companies since 1988, including Pavilion Opera, Carl Rosa, Travelling Opera, The Vienna Festival and Dublin Grand Opera. I have performed as a soloist all over the UK, France , New Zealand and Australia. Venues have included Southwark Cathedral, Barbican Concert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Le Cigal, Paris. I have made recordings in shows, opera and oratorio – conductors have included Kent Nagano, Ivan Fischer and Sir Georg Solti. My performance repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to Tippet and from Gilbert and Sullivan to West End show. Other Relevant Experience: I have studied acting in the Lee Strasbourg, Laban and traditional techniques including Shakespeare with Timothy West. I’m Ola, a singing teacher and vocalist with a background in music education and psychology. I offer psychologically informed singing lessons that support both vocal development and authentic self-expression.My teaching philosophy is based on a simple belief: the voice is not separate from the person using it. Singing is a technical skill, but it’s also shaped by breath, emotion, attention, confidence, and our relationship with our own body. Because of this, my teaching focuses not only on how your voice sounds, but on how it feels to sing.I trained originally as a musician and educator, graduating with a BA in Music Education with Distinction, specialising in Popular Music Instrumental and Vocal Bands and Jazz Vocals. My musical background includes classical piano, harmony and ear training, improvisation, ensemble work, and leading vocal and instrumental groups. In addition to my previous solo and band work, I’m currently involved with the Murmuration Choir in Bristol, which has deepened my interest in collective voice and embodied musical communication.Alongside my musical training, I hold a MSc in Psychology and have professional experience working in mental health services. This informs how I teach: I’m attentive to nervous system regulation, emotional safety, and clear boundaries, and I recognise that voice work can feel personal and vulnerable. This allows me to support students in a grounded, respectful, and sustainable way while working practically with voice, breath, and expression. I’m also neurodivergent, which shapes my sensitivity to different learning styles, sensory needs, and ways of processing information. I value clarity, flexibility, and collaboration, and I adapt my teaching to support how each individual learns best.From a technical perspective, my teaching is grounded in healthy, anatomy-informed vocal technique. I have trained extensively in mix voice and contemporary vocal approaches, and I’m a former Associated Member of the International Voice Teachers of Mix (IVTOM). Through this membership and ongoing professional development, I’ve engaged with current vocal science and evidence-based approaches to sustainable voice use, focusing on balance and long-term vocal health.A key element of my approach is developing interoceptive awareness — the ability to notice internal sensations such as breath flow, effort, resonance, tension, ease, and emotional arousal. This kind of internal listening helps singers build reliable technique, avoid strain, and repeat what works without forcing. Over time, it also supports emotional literacy: recognising how feelings show up in the body and voice, and learning how to express them safely through sound.I work in a person-centred way, adapting lessons to each student’s needs. You might come to singing because you want to perform, prepare for exams, improve technique, explore improvisation, or reconnect with your voice after a break. You might also be looking for a creative way to build confidence, regulate stress, or develop a stronger sense of self-expression. Beginners are very welcome. We work with breath, resonance, articulation, rhythm, harmony, and text — always in relation to how your body responds in the moment. My role isn’t to impose a voice on you, but to help you develop trust in your own internal feedback. My name is Samantha and I’m a professional vocalist and singing teacher and I have been performing now for over 15 years as a solo vocalist and with various bands at corporate events, including weddings, parties and theatres. I have been working in primary schools for an over a year working in PPA in both singing and music theory teaching to classes of 30+ and despite its challenges, I thoroughly enjoy working creatively with others and love to be part of their musical journey. My early beginnings began when I was about 8 years old. My love of music was apparent from then when I took to the stage. I began performing at singing competitions and charity functions to gain the experience and to build on my stagecraft, whilst also finishing my GSCE’s, I decided to take to road and gig with only a small PA system at the time and started performing at private parties, social clubs and weddings. I was able to make music my career path and haven’t looked back since. I am comfortable with a wide range of musical styles, including country, rock, pop and musical theatre depending on your style and preference. I know what it’s like to start out from the very beginning and not having any knowledge or vocal training and being able to gain that experience is vital for any performer and what I hope I can bring to these singing lessons is that through my knowledge and experience is to help and guide each student on their musical journey, whether they are wanting to do it as a hobby or to help build confidence by taking it to the next level of singing professionally. I am a fully qualified Singing Teacher and Vocal Coach with nearly 20 years of teaching experience. I hold an ALCM (Dip) and ALCM (TD). Whilst training for these qualifications I studied the voice in great detail, which enables me to ensure that I can explain and demonstrate how to get the best from your voice without causing damage. I have taken various examinations in Classical and Music Theatre Singing (both to Grade 8)  Piano and Theory of Music (both to Grade 5). I am extremely passionate about teaching singing, and enjoy hearing my students flourish as they find their own voices! I have taught in both public and private schools across Bristol, as well as various performing arts companies, in groups and 121. I have performed in various music theatre shows and choirs, and in many different local venues including the Bristol Beacon. Lessons are tailored to each individual student once goals have been discussed and set. Whether a beginner or professional, I would be delighted to help you navigate your vocal way through to your ultimate destination! Georgia released her debut album in late 2017 which led her to a nomination at the BBC radio 2 folk awards. Although she now specialises in folk music she was originally classically trained as a vocalist and pianist from the age of 11 in both classical and jazz genres. She went on to study her degree at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, specialising in voice and songwriting and went on to become a full time artist, performer, teacher, and in-demand session player. She has worked as a free-lance producer, one fifth of a successful prog-rock band, as well as guest lecturer in schools and universities. Since becoming an artist, Georgia moved back to the south west and swapped a life of keyboards and studios for ceilidhs, festivals, and late night sessions. With such a breadth of experience, Georgia brings an all-encompassing attitude towards teaching. Having taught herself so much over the years, as well as studying with some of the top players in her chosen fields, Georgia is able to adapt her teaching methods to suit you and focus on improving you to the best of your ability. Ben is a Bristol-based guitar teacher offering both in-person and online lessons. He currently teaches at Beaudesert Park School, alongside delivering sessions in studio production using Logic Pro. As an active performer of his own original music, Ben brings real-world experience into his teaching. His guitar specialisms include bossa nova, classical, acoustic folk, and jazz, and he is also beginning to teach flamenco. In addition to guitar, he offers ukulele lessons for students of all levels.
