Enjoyment and performance is my main focus as a tutor having trained in Musical Theatre at the London Studio Centre, University of the Arts London. I have been privileged to have worked as a performer with Disney Cruise Line; Royal Caribbean Cruise Line; UK national and international tours; the London Philharmonic and BBC Proms. For the last seven years, I’ve loved putting my knowledge into teaching piano and vocals to students of all ages. Former students have successfully passed Grade 1 - 8 ABRSM Piano, Grade 1 - 8 ABRSM Singing and successfully auditioned for Matilda (West End); School of Rock (West End) Sylvia Young Theatre School; National Youth Musical Theatre; BRIT School; Bird College. Alongside my teaching, I worked as a music editor for Faber Music Publishing, editing works such as the official Harry Potter Piano Anthology and educational books by composers including Paul Harris, Pam Wedgewood and Elaine Gould. I then became Head of Education at the national theatre school, “Perform”. I look forward to transferring back to teaching full time and focusing on those local to my new area in West Berkshire and Reading as I raise my own family. See you soon.
My MUSIC educational philosophy is: Music can change one’s life. My teaching philosophy is simple and direct, I want my student to become a better person through music. When I introduced some musical works to students, building up the music elements, I am not only presenting a repertoire but also teaching them independent critical listening and thinking. I encourage students to engage with the topic and with each other in the belief that, good teaching depends upon intellectual exchange. Given the fact that students might perform differently among subjects. I believe every student has a sparkling moment. My approach teaching goal is, students will be given the opportunity to shine their success upon my subject. In response to the job, my 9 years being a full-time music teacher in an IB local school and together with 20 years teaching experience afforded me the opportunity to assume all the responsibilities of a teacher at multiple grade levels. I am confident I can fit the aspirations of the school, namely willing to learn; skillful in communication, eager to serve and brave to show innovation and creativity. Along with teaching music in a private setting, I have also worked successfully with a choir and a band. Being a conductor of a church choir, I have confidence and belief that I can take on the challenges that teaching offers. I am eager to demonstrate my talent and teaching skills within a school that is committed to high standards for students. The enclosed resume will give you more information on my experience and accomplishments. I would welcome the opportunity for an interview to further explore how my skills and experience could benefit the school. Singing lessons: what to expect
The best singing lessons near you aren’t just about distance — they’re about a coach who helps you build your voice safely and consistently. Search by location to find in-person singing lessons, or choose online lessons to access specialist vocal coaches for pop, musical theatre, rock, classical, and exam preparation.
Singing lessons are for complete beginners through to experienced performers. Lessons can be tailored for children, teenagers, and adults — whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence, joining a band or choir, or returning to singing after a break.
Most students work on breath control, pitch, tone, range, vocal agility, and song interpretation. A good vocal coach will also help you practise effectively, warm up safely, and build vocal stamina — so you improve without strain.
Online singing lessons can be highly effective for technique, consistency, and flexible scheduling — especially with an experienced coach. In-person lessons can feel more immersive and are great if you prefer face-to-face feedback and hands-on guidance.
A simple learning path for singing
A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.
Learn healthy breathing, posture, warm-ups, and simple exercises to improve pitch accuracy and reduce strain while building confidence.
Develop stronger breath support, resonance and tone control, smoother transitions between registers, and start expanding your usable range.
Improve vocal agility, dynamics, phrasing and expression, build stamina for longer songs, and develop performance skills — tailored to your style and goals.
Getting started: what you need
Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.
- No kit required: you can start with your voice, a phone recorder, and a quiet room.
- Hydration and warm-ups matter more than volume — good singing is built on consistency, not pushing.
- If learning online: headphones and a stable internet connection make lessons smoother.
