I currently work in two schools - the reputable Harrow Boys School and Hereward House prep school. I teach private lessons from my home studio or online. I have a lot of experience teaching Music Technology/Production and music performance. I am also a professional freelance musician and regularly perform in venues throughout London and at functions and events in the UK. My name is Dan and I am originally from the North East of England now living in London. I have over 18 years of experience working as a professional musician. I have played in bands since I was 16 covering all sorts of different styles. Being a professional musician has given me experiences I don’t think I would have had with any other chosen profession. It has enabled me to travel extensively playing a wide range of gigs, whether it be music festivals or private parties. It has also enabled me to meet some of my musical heroes and perform in front of many well know people. I love playing guitar, performing, teaching others and sharing my musical experience and knowledge. I love watching others improve and gain confidence on their instrument using some of the tools I have equipped them with. I have taught as a peripatetic guitar teacher in schools and privately covering everything from theory to grades or just taught people for fun showing them how to play there favourite riffs/chord progressions. I have also worked with large groups of adults as part of corporate team building events. I am happy to teach a wide range of ages/ability levels and help my students reach their goals. Ever since I discovered Rock music at a young age, it was bands like ACDC and Metallica that inspired me to pick up the guitar, later getting into Oasis and Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin to name but a few. My very first instrument was piano but given that rock music was my motivation, piano didn’t quite cut it! My Approach as a Teacher: I am a patient, laid-back music teacher who is happy to work at whatever pace/intensity that I feel best suits the student. I have gained many skills/tools along the way to help get the best out of my students. I don\’t believe in putting pressure on people and prefer to create a stress free/fun environment. I really enjoy teaching my student their favourite songs, dissecting each part and showing them how to play their favourite sections of each song. This can be really motivational for students as it gives them something fun to focus on, whilst learning some valuable techniques. I have toured the UK with ex Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, played with people such as Reef, Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs, Rick Astley, Mel B to name but a few. I have played many of the UK music festivals and plethora of other gigs from London to the Seychelles. The fact that I have managed to earn my living doing something I love for the last 18 years is my biggest musical achievement, and it’s knowledge and skills I have picked up along the way that gives me the motivation to teach. I want to pass on my knowledge and watch other achieve what they want to in music with my help.

Nora Bee is a guitar teacher based in London with 25 years of experience in teaching. Passionate about teaching and patient! Currently more so specialising in intermediate and advanced guitar. Nora is comfortable with many different guitar techniques and Musical styles including jazz standards (swing), bebop, fusion, modern jazz, Bossa nova, latin music, flamenco (in the beginning of her musical career), blues, funk, soul, classical guitar, finger style chord melody, African guitar, avant-garde, jazz comping in duos (combining walking bass lines with chords) and bass guitar. Nora has played in most of the important jazz clubs in London, such as “Ronnie Scotts”, “Vortex”, “606”, “Charlie Wrights” and others together with various artists and as well as a leader of multiple jazz projects. Before moving to London, back in Latvia she was leading her modern jazz quartet, and playing in many other projects, including big bands, as well as being part of international jazz concert management organisations. Music Qualifications & Achievements: Studied jazz guitar at Riga Dom Choir School (2004), have taken many private lessons with teachers based in London and occasional lessons with visiting guitarists ( from NYC), as well as few lessons online. Nora took part in Berklee summer school in Italy, Perugia (2008) , where she was studying with Berklee guitar professor Jon Damian ), as well as Jerry Bergonzi one week long summer workshop in Spain, Cadiz ( 2007).

Kieran is a highly experienced London-based music tutor able to teach multiple instruments and having done so in several countries. He currently works part-time for the Harrow Music Service and as a private one-to-one tutor in London. Prior to this, he had worked as a self-employed peripatetic in West Yorkshire, which itself had been preceded by working for the highly renowned Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, and also a stint in the USA co-leading a music programme at a summer camp. As an instrumentalist Kieran is foremost a guitarist and can offer lessons in electric, classical and acoustic guitar. However, he can also teach piano, music theory, composition and arranging. Kieran is a great admirer of the renowned music educator Paul Harris and in particular, buys into his simultaneous learning technique. With this, all the areas that need to be developed in order to play a musical instrument are developed from the off at an equal speed, reducing the likelihood of students having a lopsided understanding of their instrument and a limited appreciation of all the skills needed to be a musician. This means no two students learn everything in the same order and Kieran is not just repeating the same blueprint every time. Consequently, students of his really understand the music they are playing from an early moment and are much more likely to sooner hit the magic stage where they go from being tutor dependent learners to self-dependent learners. Ultimately, what Kieran wishes to achieve with each student is to develop a love of playing music that will last a person’s lifetime. Although by no means a core principle of his teaching rationale, Kieran is more than happy to help students prepare for musical examination should they wish to go down this avenue. He has experience with the syllabuses of all the major examination boards, including Trinity, Rockschool, ABRSM and London College of Music and students that have entered under his tuition can currently boast a 100% pass rate. Kieran is able to offer either face-to-face or online lessons. For the former, lessons can take place either in his home or at the clients’ residence, dependent on availability and location. For the latter he has years of experience of doing it and so is comfortably able to adapt to the different demands that the format requires. As a performer, Kieran works in a variety of musical genres that, from the perspective of learning and rehearsing music, all operate in slightly different ways. As a result, he has first-hand experience of all of the main ways music can be taught (e.g. aurally, visually, and kinesthetically). This versatility makes him an ideal teacher for implementing wholesome, efficient and enjoyable musical learning to students of all ages and abilities.
