Private Guitar, Violin & Bass teacher based in Surrey. Associate Tutor - Rockschool / RSL Classical. I hold RSL grade 8 certificates in guitar, violin and bass. Many of my students follow the RSL syllabus and I have a track record of exam success. I have also helped young students gain entry into ACM Guildford, North Kent College and The Brit School. I am equally happy teaching students who don’t wish to follow any academic path and prefer to fulfil their specific musical agendas.
I have played the violin for over 25 years taking part in both solo, ensemble and orchestral work and performances. I have been teaching violin for 17 years and teach a range of different styles and genres. I have many years of success in tutoring students through both ABRSM and Trinity Music exams and supplement lessons of those studying for practical exams with music theory. I also work with students on school entry exams, orchestral audition preparation and ensemble work where appropriate and am happy to arrange lessons working towards personal goals. Music Qualifications & Achievements: ABRSM Violin Diploma Level dip ABRSM ABRSM Piano Grade 7 ABRSM Music Theory Grade 6
I was a student at the Purcell School for Music for 6 years with a full scholarship and will be continuing my studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. I have studied voice and violin since the ages of 4 and 12 and am very passionate about showing other people the enjoyment of it. I passed my Grade 5 theory at the age of 12 and have always seen music as the pathway I will go down. I love to give the opportunity to younger kids who want to explore their hobbies and some of my students, have grown up to know and love music much more. I was a member of The National Children Orchestra at the age of 10-14 and that was one of the most memorable times of my life, I made friends who I am still in contact with to this day and made music which I will never forget. I studied violin as the main focus for half my life but then got some insight into vocal studies and decided to pursue that however I never stopped the violin and continued to teach at churches, small masterclasses and individual lessons for students. A big success for my student was getting merit on his Grade 5 exam because he thought he would not pass, I am very proud of all my students. I believe studying music is something that requires dedication and fascination. The students I work with all take music seriously and desire to do the best they are able to with my help. I am just a teacher but good students will come from themselves and I am very happy to be here alongside them to help them progress towards their goals. I believe that the earlier you begin the easier music is as it is like learning a new language as a child, whereas learning as an adult makes it slightly harder to pick it up. I take students of any age group and am happy to work with what my student wants whether that is casual lessons for enjoyment or lessons with the intent of pursuing a future in music. I believe I am a very patient and hard-working person who will try my hardest to help my students with their goals and ambitions. I try to build a good foundation of music as this is very important to learn right from the beginning in order to build a good understanding of the theory behind the music as this is very important, though it may not be too fun for younger children. With younger students though it takes slightly longer to learn things, I believe it is important for them to fully understand the depth of music whereas with older students it might be quicker for a full understanding but it is vital to keep reminding yourself and pushing yourself. Music Qualifications & Achievements: I have been teaching for 2 years, i have taught at churches and schools for individual sessions as well as lessons for people who have found me from tutoring websites. I have a distinction in Grade 8 Vocal Studies and have been studying beyond the diploma standard for the violin. I passed my Grade 5 theory at the age of 12, which I am also able to provide for my students.

Qualifications:
Hello my name is Franck Alba. I am a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter music teacher and producer. Born in France but a resident of South London since the 1990’s, I have etched out a formidable portfolio, which includes recording with the seminal DJ/producer Andrew Weatherall and with my own groups, Low Road and Fireflies (the latter’s music was recently featured in the popular BBC One tv series, ‘Killing Eve‘). As a member of the Anglo-French ghostrock group, Piano Magic, from 2002 to 2016, I toured numerous times across the Continent and played as far and wide as Moscow and Istanbul. I am also featured on six of the band’s studio albums and a whole plethora of associated recordings, collaborating with the likes of Dead Can Dance, Low, John Grant and Vashti Bunyan. Though I began studying violin at the age of six, I fell headfirst in love with guitars in my early teens. At 16, heavily influenced by artists such as The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, Nick Drake, The Durutti Column and many more, I formed my first bands, ‘Siamese Angels’ and ‘Something Else’ . Before long, whilst studying at the jazz music school IMFP in Salon de Provence, I began playing professional concerts around his native south of France. On moving to London in the late 90’s, I joined various short-lived bands and cut my teeth playing extensively on the city’s buzzing live circuit. My most recent work includes writing and recording for Theory of ghosts EP 1 & 2 (2019-2020) and a full Album coming out January 2026, recording sessions for Andrew Weatherall’s 2014-2019, acclaimed solo album ‘Convenanza’ ,various remixes and live performances with the Woodleigh Research Facility (WRF). I am currently collaborating with innumerable artists, singer-songwriters, film makers alongside working on my solo albums. I have been teaching guitar, bass, drums, singing, music theory and improvisation for more than 20 years beside my own music career.
