About

About

Private Guitar, Violin & Bass teacher based in Surrey. Associate Tutor – Rockschool / RSL Classical.

I hold RSL grade 8 certificates in guitar, violin and bass.

Many of my students follow the RSL syllabus and I have a track record of exam success. I have also helped young students gain entry into ACM Guildford, North Kent College and The Brit School.

I am equally happy teaching students who don’t wish to follow any academic path and prefer to fulfil their specific musical agendas.

My Musical Inspirations

Originally a rock guitarist, I became fascinated by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani in my teens. I also began listening to Jazz and discovered Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
Soon after, I was introduced to John Martyn and Nick Drake, which directed me to fingerstyle acoustic guitar and eventually led me to Michael Hedges. I modelled my jazz guitar style on Martin Taylor and Emily Remler.

As a bass player, I have been inspired by Marcus Miller, Louis Johnson and Bernard Edwards.

As a Violinist, I’m deeply interested in Bach, Sibelius and Mozart and I have been profoundly affected by Janine Jansen, Hilary Hahn, Stephane Grappelli and by my mentor, Maria Lukova.
