I’m passionate about making lessons a place students can come to have fun and be creative. Making lessons a safe space allows my students to push themselves to do things they thought they couldn’t. I love seeing my students grow as people and musicians over the years. I’m a professional musician who specialises in guitar, music theory, singing, piano and songwriting. I play in an alternative / indie rock band but have experience playing both classical and jazz guitar. I am passionate about teaching and I have experience of tutoring people of different ages with varying abilities, both in person and over zoom in preparation for formal music exams and also on a more casual basis. I always ask my pupils to make me a playlist of their favourite songs and then from that I create lesson plans based around their interests in music. For example, if the pupil wants to learn how to improvise, I would teach the pupil scales found in their chosen songs and we would examine how they are used in contexts they are familiar with. I pride myself in being a flexible and adaptive teacher in which I adapt lessons to the specific needs of the pupil and find ways to keep it fun and engaging! Music Qualifications & Achievements: I have a First Class Honours Degree in Music from Goldsmiths College, University of London. I am a touring musician and have recently been on UK tours supporting Wet Leg, The Big Moon, Dream Wife and Billy Nomates.

Hello, my name is Catherine and I am a professional Opera Singer and singing teacher based in London and Florida. My musical journey began at the age of 7 when I joined the Oxford Youth Choirs. I started learning with soprano Rebecca Mosely-Morgan and after a few years I took up a scholarship to study singing at the Royal Academy of Music in London. After continuing my studies with a Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal College of Music, I was taken on by English National Opera as a Harewood Artist, performing lead roles on the stage of the London Coliseum from 2011-2018. I have been lucky enough to have sung under the batons of Sir Edward Gardner, Sir Mark Elder, Mark Wigglesworth, Michael Hoffstetter, Gianluca Marciano among others. I have performed in the Royal Opera House, Royal Albert Hall and venues across the UK and Europe. Garnering rave reviews such as ‘Vocally plumtious’, by Hugh Canning in The Sunday Times and ‘chameleonic’ by The Spectator. “Catherine Young almost stole the show as a regulation traumatised, serially drunk and abused Pauline – bringing some point and many diversions to a cipherish character”- Opera Now Alongside my career as a performer, I have enjoyed teaching and passing on the joy of singing to many. I think music is healing and collaborative, and I wish to spread the knowledge I have gained from devoting my life to it. I like to teach healthy vocal production techniques, based on the bel canto school. Hi, my name is Robert! I am a conductor, singer, composer and teacher based in London. I started learning piano when I was about 3 years old and studied at Junior Guildhall until the age of 8. I then sang as a chorister in the choir of New College, Oxford, where I also began to play the cello. During my teens, I continued to sing and compose, and also played in many ensembles including the Thames Vale Youth Orchestra. At the University of Manchester, I began to study conducting, eventually directing the University chamber choir, Ad Solem, as well as working with other choral ensembles, and the University’s baroque and symphony orchestras. Singing lessons: what to expect
The best singing lessons near you aren’t just about distance — they’re about a coach who helps you build your voice safely and consistently. Search by location to find in-person singing lessons, or choose online lessons to access specialist vocal coaches for pop, musical theatre, rock, classical, and exam preparation.
Singing lessons are for complete beginners through to experienced performers. Lessons can be tailored for children, teenagers, and adults — whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence, joining a band or choir, or returning to singing after a break.
Most students work on breath control, pitch, tone, range, vocal agility, and song interpretation. A good vocal coach will also help you practise effectively, warm up safely, and build vocal stamina — so you improve without strain.
Online singing lessons can be highly effective for technique, consistency, and flexible scheduling — especially with an experienced coach. In-person lessons can feel more immersive and are great if you prefer face-to-face feedback and hands-on guidance.
A simple learning path for singing
A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.
Learn healthy breathing, posture, warm-ups, and simple exercises to improve pitch accuracy and reduce strain while building confidence.
Develop stronger breath support, resonance and tone control, smoother transitions between registers, and start expanding your usable range.
Improve vocal agility, dynamics, phrasing and expression, build stamina for longer songs, and develop performance skills — tailored to your style and goals.
Getting started: what you need
Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.
- No kit required: you can start with your voice, a phone recorder, and a quiet room.
- Hydration and warm-ups matter more than volume — good singing is built on consistency, not pushing.
- If learning online: headphones and a stable internet connection make lessons smoother.
Styles & goals your teacher can support
Choose a direction — lessons can be tailored around what you actually want to play.
