Hi! My name is Hazel, I'm a singer and violist performing in South Manchester. My background is in classical music having played violin and viola in many orchestras and quartets over the years. More recently, I have studied jazz vocals and folk music, and now primarily work as a vocalist and violist with folk/funk/pop musicians as well as performing my own songs with my duo. My attitude towards teaching is person-centered and holistic and is driven by the students' passions. I can teach viola, violin, piano, singing, songwriting, and music theory up to an intermediate level, and can offer singing and viola lessons up to an advanced level. These would primarily be within the classical genre, however, I can also incorporate elements of folk, pop, and jazz if desired! Qualifications: BMus Music Grade 8 Viola (ABRSM) Grade 8 Singing (ABRSM) Grade 5 Violin (ABRSM) Grade 5 Piano (Trinity) Grade 5 Theory (ABRSM)
Hi! I’m a student at the Royal Northern College of Music studying singing and composition. I have a very flexible teaching style, I know all too well how important it is that your teacher is adapting to the way that you work best! I have experience teaching people of all ages and am happy to take on any students! Alongside my speciality in singing and composition, I have extensive training in classical piano and can teach at all levels. I truly believe that it is never too late to start learning an instrument or to sing (one of the most amazing singers I know started when he was in his fifties!). I’m happy to travel to teach or can teach in the facilities of the RNCM. Don’t hesitate to send me a message to find out more! I am in demand as a singer across the country and have sung with the Dorset Opera Festival and the Oxford Opera Festival recently. I finished my undergraduate degree at the Univeristy of Manchester with first class honours and am currently finishing the prestigious Graduate Diploma at the RNCM.

I am a versatile and experienced singer who has trained at the world-class Royal Conservatoire – Royal Northern College of Music during a four-year Popular Music bachelors degree, where I graded with a 1st. I offer one on one singing lessons in Manchester for both female and male singers, professionals and beginners 12 years of age and older. I help people build their technique, repertoire, prepare for their singing auditions, live performances and give guidance in stagecraft. I also work with students who want to sing just for fun or learn a few songs for a special occasion and do it as a hobby for their own enjoyment. I have a wide range of experience in performance, singing, stagecraft, artistic vision and image building as well as public presentation skills. I had amazing opportunities to work with high-class worldwide known vocalists and vocal coaches like Sheila Raye Charles, Wayne Ellington, Nicky Allan, Soyeon Kim and Kim Chandler. I always try and use their advice experience when teaching my students, adapt and alter it to their individual needs. I am prepared to teach everybody who wants to become a professional, deepen their knowledge or sing and just have a great time! I am interested in a variety of music genres from Jazz, Blues, Soul to Pop, R&B and Electronic music, but I always let my students choose what they want to perform. I am eager to learn myself, hence I always introduce new techniques to my students and experiment with new exercises and ways of singing practising. I work on breathing, posture, efficient warm-ups, mix-voice, blending ranges, vocal stamina, discovering one’s unique voice abilities and qualities. I love using Sadolin singing techniques. After the student and I make sure there is a good technical base, I introduce the work with vocal colour, different styles of singing, personality in voice, delivery, performance, stage character and fine details of stagecraft. I am flexible and always try to make people feel free and relaxed when working with me, be it doing exercises or presenting their work and progress. Having said that, I am always honest and never afraid of giving constructive criticism and feedback as I feel it is immensely important for one’s professional growth. As every individual has different needs and capabilities, I easily adjust and choose the best way to approach and interact with each and one of them. If they have a preferred way of learning, I am always open for suggestions and changes. Also, I like to get to know the person and discuss their goals, expectations, targets. I strongly believe that working hard is a key to success, so I will make sure we do that together and achieve great results! Singing lessons: what to expect
The best singing lessons near you aren’t just about distance — they’re about a coach who helps you build your voice safely and consistently. Search by location to find in-person singing lessons, or choose online lessons to access specialist vocal coaches for pop, musical theatre, rock, classical, and exam preparation.
Singing lessons are for complete beginners through to experienced performers. Lessons can be tailored for children, teenagers, and adults — whether you’re learning for fun, building confidence, joining a band or choir, or returning to singing after a break.
Most students work on breath control, pitch, tone, range, vocal agility, and song interpretation. A good vocal coach will also help you practise effectively, warm up safely, and build vocal stamina — so you improve without strain.
Online singing lessons can be highly effective for technique, consistency, and flexible scheduling — especially with an experienced coach. In-person lessons can feel more immersive and are great if you prefer face-to-face feedback and hands-on guidance.
A simple learning path for singing
A good teacher will tailor lessons to your goals — but here’s what progress often looks like.
Learn healthy breathing, posture, warm-ups, and simple exercises to improve pitch accuracy and reduce strain while building confidence.
Develop stronger breath support, resonance and tone control, smoother transitions between registers, and start expanding your usable range.
Improve vocal agility, dynamics, phrasing and expression, build stamina for longer songs, and develop performance skills — tailored to your style and goals.
Getting started: what you need
Keep it simple at first — your teacher can help you choose the right setup.
- No kit required: you can start with your voice, a phone recorder, and a quiet room.
- Hydration and warm-ups matter more than volume — good singing is built on consistency, not pushing.
- If learning online: headphones and a stable internet connection make lessons smoother.
