Samantha Read

I am an experienced performer and teacher of flute, saxophone and clarinet. I trained at the Royal College of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama before embarking on a rewarding freelance career.
My performing has taken me all over the country and internationally with orchestras, chamber ensembles and touring opera and theatre companies as well as funk bands and big bands. I have worked in the pit orchestras of London’s West End for 30 years performing in Les Mis, Phantom, Billy Elliot, Matilda, Frozen, Devil Wears Prada to name just a few .
Alongside my performing I have worked in many schools both state and independent and taught privately. I teach all ages and abilities from beginner through to diploma and conservatoire entrance and regularly prepare pupils for exams, competitions and auditions with resulting successes.
I’ve always enjoyed teaching and helping my pupils develop their playing and reach their full potential and above all, to have fun! I’m very patient and experienced and happy to share all that I have learned over the years.
