About Michelle Kiernan

Professional Music Educator & Director of Harmonia Modern Music
Welcome to a modern, high-energy approach to contemporary music education. As an international music educator, curriculum designer, and Director of Harmonia Modern Music, my mission is to completely transform how students engage with music. I bring over 20 years of experience as an instrumental group keyboard and piano teacher, having run independent music teaching studios and served as a whole-school founding music teacher and curriculum leader setting up music departments across the Middle East and Cyprus.
Holding a Masters in Music and Media Technology, alongside a diverse professional background as a live DJ and classical piano educator, I deeply believe in blending traditional foundations with modern music styles. Having extensively taught the British Curriculum, American Curriculum, Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), and London Victoria College of Music, my professional journey has ultimately brought me here to focus on pure music playing, making, and holistic development.
Based on my professional evaluation of all these global frameworks, I chose the RSL curriculum for its brilliant focus on a fun, modern, and practical approach to learning. I am absolutely delighted to be teaching RSL because it is highly interactive and structured progressively, allowing students to master technical hurdles in a clear, logical, and encouraging sequence. I firmly believe that leveraging digital technology, playing in dynamic groups, and learning how to digitally make music are integral parts of being a successful modern musician.
At Harmonia Modern Music, we use RSL foundationally to curate a learning experience where core music theory and technique are absorbed naturally through modern songs students love. This is paired with curated supplemental learning materials to give students a custom-tailored repertoire that makes home practice seamless, engaging, and exciting. Moving past outdated primers and stepping into stadium-level contemporary tracks builds immense confidence, technical agility, and real musicianship.
Whether conducting intensive group masterclasses or mentoring students through official graded certification tracks under the Harmonia Modern Music umbrella, I maintain the highest standards of educational excellence. By focusing on classic, timeless repertoire and leveraging cutting-edge interactive digital tools, I ensure that every student experiences measurable progress, total engagement, and the profound joy of mastering a contemporary instrument.

Cancelation & Rescheduling Policy

4. CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING POLICY

Individual Home-Visit Lessons (24-Hour Notice):
If you need to cancel or change an individual lesson, you must let the teacher know at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice for any reason, the lesson fee is charged in full. No refund, credit, or makeup lesson will be given. Your slot is reserved exclusively for your child; last-minute cancellations make it impossible to rearrange travel times or offer that time to another student.

Makeup Lessons:
If you give more than 24 hours’ notice, a makeup lesson can be arranged. There is a strict limit of one (1) makeup lesson per student per term. Makeup lessons must be taken within the current term and cannot be rolled over to the next term.

School Group Lessons:
Group lesson fees are paid as a monthly or termly block to secure your child’s seat in the class. If a student misses a group session due to general absence or a holiday, no refund or individual makeup lesson is provided. The class will go ahead as scheduled, and the student will be caught up on the material during the next lesson.

Teacher Cancellations:
If the teacher has to cancel a lesson due to illness or an emergency, a makeup session will be provided as soon as possible, or a full credit will be applied to your next invoice.
