Hi, I'm Sam, here's a bit about my musical journey playing the guitar and teaching: I became enthusiastic about learning the guitar when I was 10 after watching Sweet Child O' Mine on Youtube. After pestering my parents for lessons for a month, we found a tutor at the local music store. He taught me to play with classic rock and metal riffs such as Paranoid by Black Sabbath, Seek and Destroy by Metallica and Back in Black by AC/DC. I learnt from this teacher for a year before he moved over seas and I found a new tutor who taught me to play Joe Satriani, Megadeth, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Hendrix style lead guitar work. He also pushed me to learn other genres and styles such as finger picking, bossa nova, blues and more. Soon I was teaching a few of his extra students and my guitar teaching career begun. After finishing high school I began working in a music store and studying jazz guitar at University of Auckland to develop further as a guitarist and musician. After this I began teaching through music schools and companies, gaining experience as a teacher. Throughout this time I have been posting videos of my playing and development as a musician on youtube as sammonty. Get in touch to organise private lessons with me and I'll get back to you immediately.
