About

About

Lynette Smith Music is based in Maroubra Beach, travelling to the Inner West of Sydney for mobile lessons fortnightly.

As a musician of 40 years, teaching guitar (electric/acoustic/classical) and bass for 6 of them, Lyn backs up her knowledge with regular gigs around Sydney as both a bass player and lead/rhythm guitarist.

As music is a compatible set of patterns and accompanying principles, making it relatively easy to learn to play, Lyn has been able to share this knowledge with students of all ages focusing on how these might apply across the genres of Rock, Pop, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Classical.

Utilising finger-plucking and plectrum/pick techniques, Lyn aims to ensure students have a broad range of knowledge across classical and/or contemporary styles, involving music theory and improvisation.   Students also have the facility to move between these styles within sessions.

Other skill and intensives include song-writing, performing, self-accompaniment, production skills, group-work.

Lyn is a full-songwriting member of APRA and maintains an active working knowledge of Logic Pro X software.

Cancelation & Rescheduling Policy

My preference overall is to not cancel lessons per se, but rather reschedule to other days/times.  This includes when I might need to cancel due to upcoming personal commitments/gigs.

A vacated student lesson slot needs to be filled so any notice under 24-48hrs (48 hours over weekends) is preferred.

Where lessons are cancelled under 24 hours due to illness, or forgetting a lesson, you are credited a lesson if you have been a long-standing student.  These are known as ‘make-ups’.

Best to use a make-up where relevant to you

  • the next lesson or
  • to support school assessments or performances

If you are not a long-standing student, options for recouping the lesson (or not) will be discussed.
