Hi there! My name is Emma, and I am a music teacher based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
I currently offer online and in person music tuition for clarinet, flute, recorder, and saxophone for beginners up to advanced students. I can offer lessons at students’ homes or at my own home in Sheffield.
I have enjoyed teaching pupils since my first position as a volunteer woodwind tutor (at a West Yorkshire music hub during my music degree). Whilst completing my PGCE in Secondary Music with Specialist Instrumental Teaching, I was taught to teach music ‘musically’, and to teach music through various means; in my woodwind lessons, I aim to include conventional note reading and playing, duets/ensemble playing, improvisation, and composition to encourage my students to become well-rounded musicians.
During my PGCE and NQT years, I have been able to ascertain what is required by exam boards for GCSE music, so I can offer tuition to help with the listening, analysis, and elements of the composition projects students are asked to complete. Send me a message to see how I can help you with your studies!
With ABRSM theory, I have been offering ‘pit-stop’ lessons for grade 5 theory candidates; these are for parts of the theory paper for which they need additional instruction. I am now in a position where I can offer a set of lessons to work through each task which they are required to complete in the exam paper. Send me a message for more information and to find out what style of lesson would work best for you!
Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced player, exam driven or learning just for fun, do not hesitate to contact me to see how I can help you!
Happy playing!
