I WELCOME ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS THROUGH TO ADVANCED PLAYERS.  I live and work in London and have been teaching guitar for over 14 years now. As a professional live musician I have been gigging since I was 13 with over 20 years experience including touring the UK, Europe and the USA and also playing at Glastonbury Festival and SXSW in Texas. I have performed in front of thousands of people supporting bands such as Biffy Clyro, recorded in top studios such as Abbey Road and had my original bands songs played on Radio One and XFM. I am still performing live weekly around London and the whole of the UK with my professional functions band. All this experience is something I pass on to my pupils. My teaching set up has all the equipment needed including spare guitars, strings, amps, laptops, printer, speakers and many backing tracks. Plus I have a very large collection of modern and classic rock songs in full tab in addition to many technique exercises and grade pieces from books. I have a 100% pass rate for all my pupils sitting the Rockschool grades. I encourage absolute beginners and also advanced players and offer all the grades from debut to grade 8 and above into Diploma levels in performance and theory. But taking the grades is not something mandatory, it's entirely up to you if you wish to sit grades or not. Many of my pupils instead want me to get them ready to perform live and this is something I coach them right though from bedroom beginner to stage gigging experts with all my years of stage knowledge and performance experience. Many of my pupils have gone on to form bands of their own or become solo artists touring the UK and performing in places such as The Barfly and The Garage. I am also happy to advise on which equipment you will need and help you shop around for the best gear at the best prices. I have 100's of techniques, practice ideas and exercises to turn you into the best guitar player possible whilst picking up a full understanding of the chords, theory, scales, harmony and application of modal improvisation that go with it. Stephen has been playing the bass guitar for over 10 years and has subsequently developed a deep understanding of the instrument and how to create a distinctive sound. Growing up in London meant Stephen has had exposure to the vast amount of jam and gig opportunities in the city for over a decade, with the diverse range of music on offer being influencing him over this time. Performing live over this period has given him great experience on stage. This includes having to improvise, play unknown pieces and lock in with a new band. The gigs Stephen has played include performances in venues ranging from intimate locations such as Soho’s ‘Spice of Life’ and ‘The Camden Assembly’ to more substantial venues such as Hamburg’s ‘Birdland’, ‘The 02 Academy Islington’ and ‘The Shepherd’s Bush Empire’. The experience of gigging means Stephen\’s lessons can take a more performance psychology approach, or have an emphasis on how to sound good on stage and fit into an ensemble. Having completed a degree course at BIMM London means Stephen’s bass playing consists of many different and advanced techniques, which push bass playing to its limits. Bass techniques taught include slap bass, tapping, chordal playing and much more. Also, his good music theory knowledge is taught in an applied fashion, meaning that the lesson will not stray too far from being a ‘hands on’ bass lesson. Overall, this means that lessons will advance on several fronts, allowing you to grow as a musician as well as a bass player. Welcome to Kilburn Guitar Lessons! ​My name is Lewis and I am a professional guitarist, teacher, performer and composer with over 16 years playing experience. I enjoy teaching all abilities from advanced players with specialised goals, to absolute beginners. I plan my lessons to suit the student depending on what exactly it is that they want to achieve. The learning process will help students find new goals and ideas for what they want to learn next within music. There I taught lessons in guitar, bass and whole class ukulele in multiple schools throughout the week.
