Working within the industry for the last 8 years, I have performed with some of the UK’s leading big bands, pop, reggae and contemporary music artists as well as appearing on radio and television as a saxophonist. I have entertained audiences at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, The Sage and Ronnie Scott’s and performed internationally at music festivals including Latitude, Southside/Hurricane (Germany), Echoes of Earth (India), Jazzablanca (Morocco) and the London Jazz Festival. I have also composed and performed original works with my own quartet and for the Patchwork Jazz Orchestra and National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Alongside performing and composing, I have taught saxophone, flute, and clarinet privately and in primary and secondary schools for four years and have helped lead numerous workshops on improvisation and ensemble playing in schools and music hubs around the UK. Piano, Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute lessons tailored to you. I believe the responsibility for progress and motivation lies on my shoulders—your only job is to show up. What to expect from our lessons In my studio, the traditional pressure of "learning an instrument" is flipped. I don't use one-size-fits-all books because difference is the norm. Whether you are a busy professional or a young beginner, I adapt my entire methodology to how you authentically exist right now. I identify your natural neurological motivators so that the drive to play wells up from the inside, rather than relying on forced willpower. Your first lesson We don't wait months to "sound good." In our first 30-minute session, we will bypass dry theory and get you playing a song you actually enjoy. My goal is to create an environment of total safety and alignment where we can find your "flow" immediately. We will discuss your musical tastes, how you process information, and set a roadmap that makes "impossible" hurdles feel like tangible wins. My approach for different stages Children: We focus on the Joy of Discovery using visual imagery to ensure music provides an intrinsic sense of joy. Teens: I act as a mentor, using music as a tool for self-expression and building a strong sense of identity and mastery. Adults: We focus on behavioral relevance—connecting your instrument to the music you actually listen to—providing a sophisticated creative outlet to counterbalance daily stress. Experience and Background I am an established professional musician and educator with a focus on high-level performance and student-centered results. My own performance career includes prestigious sets for the Lord Mayor of London and the Movember Campaign Launch. This professional background allows me to teach not just notes, but the artistry and confidence required to master an instrument. Within six months, my students regularly make leaps in areas they previously thought were closed to them. Ready to begin? You don’t need to be "ready" or have "potential" to start. You don’t even need to worry about the logistics of how you will learn—that is what I am here for. Send me a message today, and let’s find the song you’ll be playing in your first 30 minutes!
I’m Ben, a classically trained professional saxophonist specialising in jazz, pop and improvisation style sax. I offer lessons exploring and developing your own sound world, creating confidence with your instrument and how to perform in an effective way to an audience. With a first class degree from University of Leeds I can teach an in depth understanding of music theory, notation reading and composition. Many of my students are playing for fun and looking to develop their skills to really enjoy playing the saxophone for themselves. For other students I can take them through a curriculum if they are looking to pass a certain exam, grades or if they are preparing for a concert. As a working saxophonist I have played at the Qatar World Cup, Epsom Races, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and many more high profile events. I have developed a unique improvisational style and I’d love to pass on how I have developed my performance to this level with new students and give a memorable performance to an audience. Compositionally, I also have a string of successful Spotify releases and I can help with students to compose and record themselves in a professional manner. Whether this is jazz, dance music or hip hop I have a huge amount of experience in record production. I have found recording and learning how to record myself as a great way to improve my playing and it is something I really encourage my students to try out. I really look forward to hearing from you and I'm happy to have a free consultation to see if you think I am right for you!
Hi, I am a woodwind teacher based in North London. I can offer lessons either at my house (in Tufnell Park), at my students premises, or online. I began my musical journey 16 years ago, and have since gained my grade 8 in flute and saxophone, and a diploma in oboe. Graduating in 2022, I completed a bachelor of arts music degree with first class honours from Oxford Brookes University. As part of my degree I specialised in performance on my oboe, as well as theory and analysis. I began teaching in 2020 alongside completing my degree. Since then I have had many students, beginner and intermediate level, all of whom have achieved high marks on both ABRSM and Trinity College London board music exams. I firmly believe that every student learns differently, therefore I am devoted to tailoring my lessons to my students. I enjoy lighthearted and easy-going lessons, where my students can get the best out of the time in a supportive and relaxed environment. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding lessons. Hope to see you soon Lucy
About Saxophone lessons Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace sits in a creative corner of South London, and saxophone teachers here reflect that energy. Whether you're after laid-back jazz, energetic funk, or classical repertoire, local tutors bring real playing experience into lessons. Learning saxophone here means access to South London's vibrant music scene without the commute into central London. Teachers work from home studios in Crystal Palace, Gipsy Hill, and nearby areas like Dulwich and Forest Hill, with many offering online lessons too. Lessons typically start with tone production and basic fingering. From there, teachers tailor content to your interests — some students work through graded exams, others build a repertoire of tunes they love, and many do both. Jazz students often start improvising early, learning scales and chord tones through playing rather than pure theory. South London has community bands, open mics, and jam sessions where learners can test their skills in supportive settings. Teachers often know these networks and can connect you when you're ready. If you're considering saxophone, a trial lesson helps you gauge whether it's the right fit. Most teachers offer introductory sessions to discuss goals and try the instrument.
Crystal Palace saxophone teachers typically teach from local studios and offer lessons to students across South London including Dulwich, Forest Hill, Sydenham, and Norwood. Online lessons available for broader flexibility.
