Pedro Velasco

I’ve spent my career around guitars — as a performer, a teacher, and now as a luthier building and repairing instruments by hand from my workshop in Chesham.

I hold a First Class BA (Hons) in Jazz Performance and taught guitar for 15 years, both privately and in schools, before stepping away from teaching to focus on instrument-making. I’m now taking on private students again — in person only, from my workshop.

I teach players of all levels and styles, from first-time beginners to advanced players working on technique, theory, or repertoire. The one thing I ask is that you come ready to put the work in — I get the most out of lessons with students who are genuinely motivated to progress.

Because I also build and repair guitars, lessons here come with a bit of extra insight most teachers can’t offer: how your instrument is actually built, how to keep it playing well, and what’s really going on under the strings.
