Qualifications:

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’m a professional guitarist, vocalist, and music educator based in Kolkata, dedicated to helping students of every age and level fall in love with playing music. I currently serve as Head of the Music Department at Delhi Public School Ruby Park, one of Kolkata’s leading schools, where I lead the music curriculum and mentor students across grade levels. Alongside this, I run Strings Music Edu, my own boutique 1-on-1 music school, where I teach acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, and Western vocals to students both in person and online.

My teaching is built on a strong, internationally recognised qualification base. I hold a UWLQ Level 3 Certificate in Graded Examination in Music Performance (Grade 8) in Acoustic Guitar, a UWLQ Level 3 Certificate in Graded Examination in Music Performance (Grade 8) in Popular Music Vocals, and a TVU Intermediate Graded Examination in Music Performance certificate in Classical Guitar (Grade 4). I am also RSL (Rockschool) Grade 1–8 certified, and I hold an IB MYP (International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme) certification in music education, which shapes how I structure lessons around genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation.

Beyond the classroom, I’m an active working musician and live performer, which means the guitar and vocal techniques I teach aren’t just theory pulled from a textbook — they’re the same tools I use on stage. I believe this real-world performing experience is one of the biggest advantages I bring to my students: I can teach not just how to play a piece correctly, but how to perform it with confidence in front of an audience, handle nerves, and develop genuine musicality.

My guitar lessons cover acoustic and electric guitar from absolute beginner to advanced levels, following a structured, graded curriculum (RSL Grades 1–8) so that progress is always measurable and students can work toward recognised certifications if they choose to. For vocalists, I focus on contemporary Western vocal technique — breath control, pitch, tone, and stage presence — using English-language repertoire. I also teach bass guitar and ukulele for students looking to branch out or build a broader instrumental foundation.

I offer both in-person lessons at my studio in Kasba, Kolkata, and online lessons for students anywhere in the world, including a growing number of international and NRI students. Online lessons are delivered with the same structured, grade-based approach as in-person sessions, so distance is never a barrier to serious progress.
