About Matt Friedland

Music Lessons Arizona provides professional piano, guitar, bass guitar, and drum lessons for children, teens, and adults in Tempe, Arizona. Led by studio owners Sherin Moustafa and Matt Friedland, our music school combines more than 25 years of teaching experience with advanced musical training from the Arizona State University School of Music.

Sherin is a nationally certified piano instructor specializing in classical repertoire, technique, sight-reading, musical expression, and performance preparation. She guides students from beginner lessons through advanced classical piano and also offers preparation for ABRSM graded examinations, recitals, auditions, and competitions.

Matt is a professional musician, performer, composer, and educator with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance. He teaches guitar, bass guitar, and drums, incorporating music theory, improvisation, rhythm, composition, and songwriting. His specialties include jazz, blues, funk, rock, fusion, and pop.

Our lessons are personalized according to each student’s experience, interests, learning style, and musical goals. We welcome complete beginners, intermediate students, and advanced musicians. Instruction may include technique, note reading, rhythm, ear training, music theory, improvisation, repertoire, songwriting, and performance skills.

Students can choose individual music lessons or collaborative group programs. We also provide opportunities to participate in recitals, workshops, public performances, auditions, and competitions when appropriate for the student’s level.

Lessons are available at our professional studio in Tempe, serving students from Chandler, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Ahwatukee, Gilbert, and surrounding East Valley communities. Online lessons may also be available depending on the program and instructor.

Whether you are learning your first instrument, returning to music, preparing for an examination, or looking to advance your performance skills, Music Lessons Arizona offers structured instruction and a supportive community to help you make meaningful progress.
