Marco Varvello

Hello, my name’s Marco Varvello.

I am a musician, composer and producer with 20+ years experience in several kinds of projects, including Jazz, Rock, Blues, NuSoul, Folk, Electronica, Theatre performances, Radio broadcasts and Film scoring.
I also founded Noise Ark Records, indie label specialized in soundtracks.

PLAYER : acoustic and electric piano, accordion, el. bass.

COMPOSER / PRODUCER : What I provide is a full process of creating-writing-recording-producing music, expecially acoustic instruments, but also synths and beats. I can arrange for strings and full orchestra using virtuals as well as hiring musicians and record them.

TEACHER: In-presence and online music courses, lessons and masterclass (piano, accordion, modern harmony, ear training, music technologies) .
For me teaching is very important, it’s in no aspect a 2nd choice from working as a player or composer. I enjoy passing on what I know, and I’m very committed to find the appropriate way for letting the student grow musically without unuseful hardness. I try to create lessons and courses tailored on students needs.

One thing I am specialized in is explaining functional harmony mechanisms and usual patterns, that are very similar in different music genres. Due to my expercience in several musical fields, I developed a clear awareness of tonality, harmonic sequences, song structures, musical languages (jazz, pop, blues, folk, experimental).

• ‘Music Riot Award’ – Lovers Film Festival 2019 (Torino – IT) for the soundtrack of ‘Pussy’, a short film directed by Renata Gasiorowska. Performed Pussy’s soundtrack at Museo Nazionale del Cinema (Torino – IT) hosted by the ‘SOUNDFRAMES’ exhibition
