About Kirsten Guerra

Kirsten Guerra is a multi-talented musician from West Texas with expansive knowledge in music. During her college career, she has performed with the West Texas A&M Symphonic band and the Texas Tech Wind Ensemble in which both ensembles were featured at the Texas Music Educators Association. She has also performed with community ensembles such as the Plano Community Band, the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and the Texas Woman’s University & Brookhaven combined flute choirs.

In addition to performing in traditional concert settings, Kirsten has also made appearances in a variety of venues such as pubs and theaters. She has been awarded numerous prestigious awards and scholarships such as the John Phillip Sousa award, the Texas Music Educators Association scholarship award, the Gary Garner Scholarship award, the West Texas A&M Outstanding Bands-Woman award, and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Kappa Omicron chapter at Texas Woman’s University.

She graduates from West Texas A&M University with a bachelors in music education all-level certification. She then attended grad school at Texas Tech University and received a masters in flute performance. She also earned a masters in flute pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University where she also taught courses in music and wellness and lessons to incoming undergraduates.

She currently teaches a large and ever-growing flute studio of successful students in Wylie, Frisco, and Dallas. In addition to her flute studio, she coaches the “Wylie High School Flute Choir.” Kirsten was a student of Ms. Sally Turk, Dr. Mark Trimble, Dr. Lisa Garner Santa, and Dr. Pamela Youngblood.

Aside from teaching flute, Kirsten enjoys technology, gaming and other art forms such as drawing, painting, and photography. When she isn’t performing or teaching lessons, she is teaching yoga and playing board games with her fiancé.
