About Joe Moreg

I was born in Alicante, Spain, in 1973 and started playing guitar when I was 13. Shortly after, I joined the Conservatoire, where I studied for several years and completed my degree as a qualified Guitar Teacher and Instrumentalist in 2000. The course included Solfège, Music Theory, Harmony, Acoustics, Transposition, Music History, Pedagogy, Chamber Music and Choir (I sang as a tenor for four years). My degree is recognised as a British Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in Guitar Performance and Teaching.

While I was still at the Conservatoire I also began playing electric guitar. I first taught myself and later studied with local teachers specialising in rock and jazz. After finishing my classical studies I taught at two music academies in Alicante and attended masterclasses with well-known Spanish guitarists. In 2002 I moved to Madrid to continue my training in modern electric guitar and harmony, and later that same year I came to London. My Spanish degree was recognised and I was awarded Qualified Teacher Status (GTC England). Since then I have worked full-time as a private guitar teacher and also spent three years as a visiting teacher at a school in Ealing.

Over the years I have kept studying. I completed the online Music Production Specialisation with Berklee College of Music, the online Jazz Improvisation course with Gary Burton (also Berklee), and the online Fundamentals of Music Theory from the University of Edinburgh. I hold Grade 8 in both Electric Guitar and Acoustic Guitar with RGT/LCM, and Grades 1–6 in Classical Guitar with Trinity College London.

Today I teach exclusively online via Zoom and specialise in electric, acoustic and classical guitar, electric bass and ukulele. I work with complete beginners right through to advanced players and cover a wide range of styles: Rock, Pop, Indie, Metal, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Soul, Folk and Classical. If you want, we can also explore music theory, modern harmony, songwriting, home recording and music production.

In every lesson I play and demonstrate everything live with you and transcribe it carefully as we go. All materials (PDFs, audio files and notes) are organised in Google Classroom so you never have to worry about taking notes and can practise with everything clearly laid out.

I fully adapt every lesson to your goals. You can choose:

  • Free Programme: completely personalised lessons focused on the music you love (with as much or as little theory as you want).
  • Graded exam preparation: Rockschool/RSL, Trinity Rock & Pop, ABRSM, LCM, etc.
  • A combination of both (the most popular option).

Lessons last one hour and my schedule is very flexible (mornings, afternoons and evenings). I can also arrange intensive courses if you need faster progress. You are welcome to book single lessons or the more economical monthly pack of four.

My current prices are:

  • First interview free and with no obligation (a friendly video call to meet, explain how I work and answer all your questions).
  • Single 1-hour lesson: £30
  • Monthly pack of 4 × 1-hour lessons: £100

I have been teaching guitar privately for more than twenty years and I still enjoy it as much as the first day. I am patient, organised and genuinely passionate about helping every student enjoy the instrument and make real progress. Whether you want to learn your favourite songs, pass exams, improvise, write your own music or simply have fun, I will be with you every step of the way.

I look forward to meeting you and starting this musical journey together.
