About Ian Kalangie
Ian Kalangie, S.Sn.
Founder & Drum Instructor – IK Drum Course
Ian Kalangie, S.Sn. is a professional drum educator and active musician with an academic background in Bachelor of Music (S1 Seni Musik). He has been actively involved in drum education since 2021, teaching students from beginner to intermediate levels through structured and progressive learning programs.
As the Founder and Drum Instructor of IK Drum Course, Ian is committed to developing students’ technical skills, musical understanding, confidence, and ability to apply their knowledge in real musical situations.
His teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation in drum technique, rhythm, coordination, timing, groove, fills, chops, musicality, and performance. Lessons are structured progressively to help students develop their abilities step by step while adapting the learning process to their individual needs and musical goals.
In addition to his teaching career, Ian remains actively involved as a session drummer, performing with various bands and participating in different musical settings. This ongoing professional performance experience allows him to bring practical, real-world musical knowledge into his teaching, particularly in areas such as playing with other musicians, musical interpretation, dynamics, groove, song application, and performance preparation.
