About Gareth Heritage
F#9 (Qualified Music Tuition) is an online, Kent and S.E. London-wide music tuition service specialising in music examination preparation. The primary focus of the service is to provide tuition for guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, keys, music theory, composition and sound production grades and diplomas, as well as music GCSE and A Level. Undergraduate and postgraduate tuition is also offered in conjunction with affordable instrument maintenance packages.
Gareth Heritage is a multi-instrumentalist, experienced music teacher and former music examiner (Trinity College, London). Gareth runs F#9 (Qualified Music Tuition) in conjunction with his work as the lead teacher for Kent County Council’s adult education guitar, music theory and song writing programmes.
Using established pedagogical methods that guarantee progress, Gareth’s teaching style is both focused and progressive. By combining instrumental technique with music theory, lessons adopt a holistic approach to learning a range of musical skills. Lessons are differentiated to students’ needs and learners follow individualised schemes of work as they progress towards attaining graded qualifications.
In addition to holding six music/teaching related academic qualifications, Gareth also possesses the UK Department for Education’s Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Gareth was formally a member of the ISMs’ Special Interest Group (SIG) for music education and is a published academic.
