About Maria Filippova

Hello! I’m Maria, a passionate flutist and dedicated teacher, eager to share the joy and freedom of music with my students. I hold an Artist Diploma from Royal College of Music, and my experience as a professional musician brings a wealth of knowledge to every lesson. I currently hold a position of Principal Second Flute with Academy of Ancient Music and regularly work as a guest flute player with prestigious ensembles, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

I teach both baroque and modern flute, blending technical precision with expressive artistry. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether you’re just starting out, preparing for exams, or performing on stage. I focus on building strong fundamentals: breath control, finger technique, and tone, while keeping lessons engaging, interactive, and fun.

As a performer, I’ve explored a wide repertoire, from baroque masterpieces to contemporary compositions. I bring this experience into teaching, offering practical tips on phrasing, musicality, and stage presence that help students play with confidence and expression.

One of my greatest joys is inspiring students to fall in love with music. Every lesson is designed to challenge, motivate, and celebrate progress, helping each student discover their own unique sound. I welcome students of (almost) all ages and abilities and create a supportive, encouraging environment where learning is exciting and rewarding.

Let’s make music together!
