Mihaela Hitkova

Mihaela Hitkova is an accordionist and dedicated accordion teacher originally from Bulgaria. She has been playing the accordion for nearly 20 years and has gained extensive experience as both a performer and teacher. She completed her Bachelor of Music in Accordion Performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in 2024, followed by a second Bachelor of Music degree with a focus on music pedagogy in 2025. In October 2026, she begаn a pedagogically oriented Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. Throughout her musical education, she has participated in numerous masterclasses with renowned accordionists and received awards at national and international competitions.

Mihaela has been teaching accordion since 2020 and enjoys working with students of different ages and levels – from complete beginners to more advanced players. Her accordion lessons are suitable for children, teenagers, and adults, and can be adapted to different musical interests and goals. Whether you have never played an instrument before, are returning to the accordion after a break, or want to improve your existing skills, she will meet you at your current level and help you progress step by step.

In her teaching, she combines humor, patience, and clear structure to create a relaxed, friendly, and motivating learning environment. She believes that learning an instrument should be both enjoyable and rewarding, while also providing a solid musical foundation. Her goal is not only to teach students how to play pieces, but also to help them become independent and confident musicians.

A central part of her teaching is learning to read music confidently, developing a strong sense of rhythm, and discovering musical expression. At the same time, she adapts every lesson to the individual student: their age, level, learning pace, musical interests, and personal goals. Depending on what the student wants to achieve, lessons can include learning new pieces, improving technique, working on musical interpretation, developing sight-reading skills, or preparing for a concert, audition, or exam.

For younger students, Mihaela focuses on making the learning process engaging and age-appropriate, while helping them develop good musical habits from the beginning. She believes that children learn best when they feel encouraged and enjoy the process. For adult students, lessons can be structured more flexibly around their individual interests and available time. You can learn the accordion simply for your own enjoyment, explore different styles of music, or work towards a specific musical goal.

Mihaela is particularly interested in showing the accordion as a versatile instrument that can be used to explore many different kinds of music. Depending on the student’s interests, lessons can include classical music, traditional and folk music, popular music, or other repertoire chosen together. She is happy to help students discover new music while also working with pieces they already love.

Lessons can take place online, making it possible to learn accordion from anywhere. Online lessons can be especially convenient for students who do not have access to an accordion teacher nearby or who prefer the flexibility of learning from home.
