About David Blazye

Hi I’m David. I am highly passionate about passing on musical knowledge; approaches to learn or strengthen the building blocks of music- melody, harmony and rhythm.

I teach:

• Guitar

• Ukulele

• Trumpet

• Songwriting

• Music Theory & Ear Training

• Singing whilst accompanying yourself

My teaching style is for ALL ages and tailored towards each individual student. I will teach you to connect your voice, to your ear to your instrument.

Your initial lesson with me will involve a discussion about your relationship with music- what you like and what you’d like to learn. On any instrument my approach is based around songs and tunes, extracting worthwhile exercises to develop both your technique, music theory and train your ear. I will also help you to develop the confidence and connection to truly express yourself through music. As a teacher and as an artist this is my foundation.

Whether you are a beginner playing your first notes, a songwriter looking to bring new colours to your compositions or a more intermediate player enhancing your technique, we will develop consistent ways to practice and enjoy your journey. After all finding the fun in learning music helps us to stick with it.

About Me:

I am a professional singer / songwriter / guitarist & trumpeter, a formerly signed recording artist on DB records in the noughties. I started playing the guitar at the age of 10 and began performing as the lead singer in bands from the age of 13. I have fronted bands professionally in the folk-rock, soul & pop vein for over 30 years. I think these experiences give me an interesting perspective to pass on in that I have done a lot of recording, including work with producer Tim Oliver and have played loads of gigs with various professional musicians including Charlie Jones (Goldfrapp, Robert Plant), Clive Deamer (Robert Plant, Radiohead, Get The Blessing) and Jack Atherton (Jake Bugg).

In the last decade I added the trumpet and the study of jazz to my own musical repertoire. Due to the complexities that come with trumpet technique, jazz harmony and improvisation I found that this was the most methodical I’ve been about learning and practising an instrument. The process was humbling so I sincerely am with you, every step of the way as you learn.

I have formed a deeper connection to the idea of music as a language rather than some given talent. I strongly believe that most people can develop good musical skills with the right approach and consistent practice.
