About

Hi there!

My name is Andy Basiola, I am an experienced guitarist and guitar teacher with more than 12 years of experience, based in London, UK.

A little story about me:

I started playing guitar at the age of 12 thanks to my dad, listening to guitarists such as Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, etc… In 2009 I moved to London, after winning a scholarship to study at Tech Music School, one of Europe’s leading music college, where he graduated in 2010.

Over the years I have played and toured Europe with a number of different bands and played some of London’s iconic venues, such as 02 Shepherds Bush Empire, 02 Islington, 100 Club, Beck Theatre, Barfly, Underworld.

In London, I have been writing and recording music with rock bands Kill for Eden and Future Shock, and also worked with producer Phil Kinman (Doogie White, Tank, Driven), and Ade Emsley (Iron Maiden, Steve Harris, Voodoo Six), and TOMMY DE CARLO, lead singer of American rockers BOSTON.

In 2012 I was voted Best Individual Performer, by Playmusic Magazine, in the same year I received a guitar endorsement deal with Fret-King Guitars.

In 2014 I was selected to take part in the “Vivaldi Metal Project” album, a project involving musicians from all over the world including Rick Wakeman (Yes), Mark Boals, Michael Lepond (Symphony x), Atma Anur and many more.

About my work as a teacher and teaching philosophy:

I have been teaching privately and in music schools for over 10 years, a variety of styles and techniques from beginners to advanced. Whether you are just starting or can already play, I can help you develop a solid practice routine that will target specific areas of playing, but, most importantly, I want you to develop your own voice on the instrument just as I’m always constantly doing.

I believe every musician is constantly learning, music is a journey, so come aboard!

Andy is an excellent guitar teacher for students of all ages. He taught my teenage son for two years and made the lessons fun and accessible. My son plays very well now, but more important, he has a deeper understanding of music in general and how learning an instrument can really enhance one’s life. That is thanks to Andy’s enthusiasm and good manner. I highly recommend him.

Andy is patient, kind and talented. He takes kids at their pace and is always encouraging and inspiring. Having a rock star come to visit for an hour a week was awesome in the words of my son ! What more do you need to know?

Andy is an amazing guitar player and teacher, extremely patient with children, methodical and effective in his teaching. He has good knowledge of the RSL Rock school curriculum and examination requirements. Our son has progressed very fast to grade 3, taking the grade 4 exam soon. I have the greatest confidence in Andy and would recommend him unreservedly for teaching children and adults alike.
