Dan Baldwin offers relaxed, friendly drum lessons for children, teenagers and adults, taught from a home music studio in Millfield. Lessons are suitable for complete beginners through to intermediate players and are tailored to suit each student’s interests, ability and goals. Dan has been playing drums for over 25 years and holds a degree in Professional Musicianship from the Bristol Institute of Modern Music (BIMM). Alongside his formal training, he is an active working drummer who regularly gigs with local bands, has performed on national stages and has experience recording drums in professional studios. This means lessons are rooted in real playing experience, not just exercises on a page. Drum lessons are open to all ages. Dan teaches young children who are just starting out, teenagers working towards grades or building confidence, and adults who want to learn for fun or return to drumming later in life. No previous experience is needed, lessons start from wherever the student is at. Each lesson is bespoke and shaped around the individual. Where appropriate, Dan uses Rockschool guidance and grade workbooks to give structure and progression, particularly for students who want to work towards exams. At the same time, lessons are flexible and can include learning songs, improving timing and coordination, developing technique, or simply enjoying playing the drums without pressure. Dan has previously taught at the South Lakes Rock School in Barrow and also works with independent private students. He is known for being extremely patient and approachable, and is particularly good with children. Lessons are calm, supportive and encouraging, helping students feel comfortable behind the kit and confident to make mistakes as part of learning. A big part of Dan’s teaching style is breaking things down in a clear and easy-to-understand way. He demonstrates technique practically and explains ideas simply, making lessons accessible even for those who feel nervous or unsure when starting out. Progress is steady and realistic, with an emphasis on understanding rather than rushing. Students come to lessons for many different reasons. Some want to take Rockschool grades, some want to play in bands, some want to build confidence or coordination, and others just want a new hobby they can enjoy. Dan is happy to support all of these goals and believes lessons should reflect what the student wants to achieve, not a fixed or rigid programme. Above all, Dan wants students to enjoy their lessons. Learning an instrument should feel positive and rewarding, not intimidating. Whether a student practises every day or just enjoys playing during lessons, the focus is always on keeping drumming enjoyable and motivating. Lessons take place in Dan’s dedicated home music studio in Millfield, providing a comfortable and focused space to learn. The studio is fully equipped, allowing students to concentrate on playing without needing to bring their own kit. Dan Baldwin Drums is ideal for anyone looking for drum lessons in a friendly, down-to-earth setting with a qualified and experienced teacher who genuinely enjoys helping people learn. Whether you are booking lessons for your child or looking to learn yourself, Dan offers a supportive and straightforward approach to drumming with no pressure and no ego.
I’ve been playing the guitar since the age of 12 doing my first gigs at 14. I have a BMus which is a degree in Popular Music Performance from The Guitar Institute in London. Also, I am a fully trained secondary music teacher holding a PGCE and I also have years of Live Playing and Private Tuition experience. Currently, I teach privately and also teach in schools around the North East of England. Ideally, for me, it is easy if you come to my studio for a lesson as all resources can be easily accessed. However, if a home visit is required this can also be arranged. I offer students examinations that are optional. Currently, I am using Rockschool and Trinity mainly however any board can be used. All age ranges and levels taught. I believe a guitar lesson should be a fun place to learn and also a supportive learning environment. If you want to have a go at playing the guitar give me a try and I will do my very best to get you playing and enjoying it at the same time. Michael is a Freelance Drummer and Educator from Northeast of England. Currently, apart of the SoulTone Cymbals Family and D’Addario Education collective, SEN (Sabian Education Network) and is Supported by ProMark sticks and Evans Drum heads, he also plays Tama Startclassic range of drums. Triple-T Drumming Ltd is a registered company, number 08916052, and is run by Michael Hutchinson Web-address: www.tripletdrumming.com Email Address: Michael@tripletdrumming.com We are a family run business with a strong ethos of "Make Music Cool again" our mission is simple "Music is for everyone, let's deliver it to everyone". For a long time, Michael wanted to take the enthusiasm and dedication his music teachers gave to him and share that with others, so 3 years ago he decided to look into teaching. After visiting drum kit teachers around the northeast, seeing what he needed to do and get some inspiration from them, he decided that not only spending a lot of money doing this and also learning things like ""how to swizzle sticks"" and ""don't play it like that, play it like me"", he decided that his goal was NOT to deliver lessons like this and deliver a completely different lesson, a lesson that was all about the drummer, and the needs of the drummer, and what that drummer wanted to learn. He needed to come up with a set of 4 rules to govern his plan. Cost-effective, so everyone could afford it A syllabus which was mixed, Rock school syllabus with challenging real-life lessons which incorporated what the drummers learning objectives were for the grade they where working on. Location needed to be in an environment where learning was the key, Children safety was at the forefront but was accessible by everyone. And most importantly A right laugh. After defining the plan, Triple-T Drumming was born. After initially starting with a couple of students, taking them through exams and lessons we have grown at an amazing rate, with the use of Web and Social media, but more importantly word of mouth. From here we have gone from strength to strength, More and More private students are queuing to get a place, exams results are defining why we do this, with 100% pass rate and proud of it too. We have students who range from 5-65 years young. We have a lot of schools who we work very closely with, and deliver 1st class lessons in the shape of assemblies, on-premise lessons, and after school clubs. We have taken teachers through lessons on "how to teach children rhythm" classes. We have gone from a First Class idea to a First Class School, and we are very proud to say that, and we love what we do. If you would like any more information on private lessons or schoolwork. if you would like to discuss a project of any kind please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your needs.
