My name’s Oliver and I am a 20-year-old third-year music student undergraduate, studying at Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College of Music), specialising in drumming. I’ve been drumming for almost 15 years, starting aged 8, and have experience playing live across Leeds in venues such as Oporto, and The Lending Room, as well as recording for singer-songwriters Daisy Wardle, Charlotte Beatrice and Carmen McLean, and producing tracks with tropical house artist HM, (music available on Spotify/ Apple/ Youtube etc). Moreover, before university, I played numerous shows for amateur theatre productions, such as Little Shop, Sister Act and Annie. I also have a youtube drum covers channel where I post regular covers and drum related content. You can also find me on Instagram and Facebook. I will help the student develop on what they have learnt themselves, focusing on becoming an all-rounded flexible drummer, teaching them important techniques such as sight-reading and drum rudiments and helping them to develop their own practice regime, which will enable them to progress as quickly as they desire. I will tailor the lessons to benefit the student to the best of my ability. I have plenty of experience with children of ages 5-15, having lead percussion workshops at the holiday club my home church runs each July and pre-university, I used to regularly run hockey coaching for the local middle school (students aged between 9 and 14) as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. Another part of my DofE was residential, where I fundraised a mission trip to Zambia through a sponsored half marathon. On this trip, I lead workshops with young adults, pastors and youth group leaders, visited and cared for vulnerable adults, and attended a local orphanage. I did have a DBS done for this but as it was for Tearfund, it is non- transferrable. I am in the process of sorting one out for when I get teaching on a one to one basis. I am currently charging £25 an hour, or £20 for half an hour, with the first drum lesson FREE, so there’s no risk in getting a lesson booked! I also do discounts for block bookings so please get in touch if you are interested. Music Qualifications & Achievements: I have both a Rockschool grade 8 merit in drum performance, as well as a merit in grade 5 ABSRM music theory In addition, I have a GCSE A grade in music and am currently in the 3rd year of my BA Music degree at Leeds Conservatoire

As a tutor, I strive to develop a students passion and creativity in whatever their goals may be. My approach to teaching is to teach the student the fundamental language of rhythm, drumming and music, and how to apply this creatively in any way they see fit.  This means you'll not only learn what you want to learn, but you'll find you understand what you hear in music, and be able to figure things out for yourself. I have achieved a BA Hons in Music Performance and an MA in Creative Practice, which focused on the neurology, biology and physiology of drumming, and its effects on the body, brain and mind. This has influenced my teaching style to a degree that allows me to really delve deep into technique, posture, learning methods and easy practice hacks to make your life as a musician much easier. I have a wealth of knowledge from travelling and working within the music industry, having recorded in some legendary locations such as Sun Studios in Memphis, teaching at the Stax Music Academy, and touring across Europe as both a technician and performer. I have performed in a wide variety of settings from live performances, recordings, videos and musical theatre. If grading is your goal, I teach the Trinity grade syllabus to grade 8, and I am a registered digital exam centre, so everything can be done in house from learning to recording and submitting.
