About Mark Lang
Mark Lang: Principal Second Violinist, Westlake Village Symphony
Violinist, Educator, and Community Contributor
Mark’s musical journey began at the young age of eight, when he started private violin lessons. His dedication and talent led him to study under the esteemed Almita Vamos, professor of violin performance and pedagogy at Northwestern University, a mentorship that shaped his approach to both performance and teaching.
Over the years, Mark has flourished as a versatile musician. He has performed as a chamber musician, soloist, and section violinist with numerous orchestras, including the Northwestern University and Western Illinois University Symphonies. His solo appearances have featured masterworks such as Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, showcasing his expressive technique and nuanced musicality.
Not limited to the concert stage, Mark has contributed his skills to major musical theater productions, performing in the pit orchestras of “The King and I,” “Oklahoma,” and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” His adaptability and collaborative spirit make him a valued member of any ensemble.
Mark’s love for music extends into education. Each school year, he brings his passion and expertise to students as a certified teacher within the Las Virgenes School District. He is deeply involved in nurturing the next generation of musicians, sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge through his private teaching studio and coaching aspiring music students across Southern California. His guidance and encouragement help young artists discover their own voices and reach new heights in their musical journeys.
Mark is available to teach violin to beginning, intermediate or advanced students.
