Tom Smith

Tom is a tenor with a passion for sharing his love of music and singing technique with others. He graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music with a Masters in Operatic Performance in 2017, and since then, he has been carving out a successful career in the world of opera.

As a freelance soloist and ensemble member, Tom has performed at some of Europe’s most prestigious opera houses, including Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Scottish Opera, Bergen National Opera, Welsh National Opera and others. His repertoire is wide-ranging and includes everything from baroque and classical music to contemporary pieces and musical theatre.

One of Tom’s greatest strengths is his vast knowledge of song repertoire and vocal technique, which he loves to share with others. He is a keen recitalist who loves to help his students improve their vocal abilities and understand the nuances of singing. He believes that good singing technique is essential to any aspiring vocalist, and he is passionate about helping his students develop their voices in a healthy and sustainable way.

Tom recently joined The Chorus of Opera North full time, where he will be able to continue pursuing his passion for music and inspiring others to do the same. With his warm personality, infectious enthusiasm, and deep understanding of singing technique, Tom is sure to be a fantastic teacher and mentor to anyone who is interested in learning more about music and the performing arts.
