About Sarah Michelle Mosher
Hello, fellow music lover! I’m Sarah, a harpist in Los Angeles, where I have recorded for film and pop music, among other projects.
I started out mostly self-taught on a small lever harp, and then on a pedal harp in my local youth orchestra, where I was principal harpist for five years. I was then awarded a scholarship for harp performance in college and played in symphony orchestra and musical theater performances as principal for four years.
I eventually undertook a Ph.D. program in Philosophy at Ohio State University, where my research focus was slated to be in philosophy of music. But I withdrew after a year in the program to move to LA and pursue *doing* music instead of *thinking* about music. Here I was lucky enough to work as a studio assistant at Hans Zimmer’s studio for over a year, and then had the honor of recording for David Fleming in his Emmy-winning score for Ron Howard’s 2024 documentary “Jim Henson: Idea Man” (Disney+). I have also recorded for Bleeding Fingers Music (a subsidiary of Sony Music Publishing) for tracks for the Extreme Music library, and for Emmy-nominated composer Sara Barone for a confidential project. I recorded electroacoustic harp (with effects) for Ilyeob Choo’s Splice sample pack “Echoes of Glass” (2025), again for David Fleming in his score for “Eternity” (A24), which premiered in theaters in November 2025, and recently for Ichiro Suezawa and Adrian McKinnon at Warner Chappell Music for an upcoming pop release.
I feel very privileged to have had these exciting opportunities, and am eager to share what I’ve learned with you! My academic background gave me years of experience as a tutor, where I learned a lot from my students about how to best support their learning goals as individuals. So my teaching philosophy is that students learn best when what they are doing well is pointed out and emphasized, since building confidence is key when learning something new. Translated to harp teaching, I also think that playing what you actually like to hear, not just what is mandated in a curriculum, is important for both immediate gratification and long term success. So feel free to reach out if you’re curious about how I might be able to help you achieve your harp goals!
