I am a fully qualified tutor, trained to Level 4 PTTLS, and hold an up-to-date DBS check.

My teaching philosophy is simple: learning is most effective when it’s enjoyable. Every student receives encouragement, constructive feedback, and lessons tailored to their individual style and pace. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate player, junior, or adult learner, I create a supportive environment where progress feels natural and rewarding.

From the very first lesson, students play behind a drum kit, developing skills through simple beats, fills, and rudiments. I offer guidance in reading music, as well as the freedom to play along with your favourite songs. All sessions are one-to-one, ensuring focused, personalised tuition.

From the very first lesson, every student works directly on a drum kit in a dedicated one-to-one session. Beginners start with simple beats, fills, and basic rudiments, building solid foundations from the outset. Lessons can include learning to read music, developing technique, or simply playing along with your favourite songs — always tailored to your goals and interests.

Karl's review left on Google. Rick Lacey. What a great character and a good man. For context, he's been working with moulding my daughter into a future reliable drummer. She is 9 years old and has now been playing a year. He started with the basics of playing: how to hold the drum sticks, identifying the drums and a good strong basic 4/4 rhythm. He's used a good mix of tutoring for grading, personal experience and an insane amount of patience. She can now play a series of timings already and been introduced to styles to create a range of dynamics at a young age. The equipment is high end and works well, usually through a mesh head electronic drum kit with substitutions on occasion to bring that real feel, so it's not constantly deafening. He is approachable and friendly, sends all the paperwork and sound work home for practising, and understands real life progresses around this so doesn't enforce pressure and brings enjoyment to the sessions. He is professional with a vast amount of experience who continues to progress himself to be able to relay the experience and techniques of other professionals within the business. He understands a range of genres and styling and is happy to repeat things to a 9 year old who forgets things. He focuses on what the learner wants and needs, adapts to each person, and has even taught me on occasions and kept me involved so I also understand. This is a reliable, friendly, professional and highly experienced man. 5 stars is an understatement.
