About Rachel Toner

Hi, I’m Rach, and I run P.R. Music Tuition, a highly successful music school in Darwen, Lancashire.

I have undergone many years of both classical and modern vocal training and now seek to incorporate “the best of both worlds” into my approach to teaching. Along with my teaching qualifications, I hold an Advanced Diploma in Contemporary Popular Music, which includes modern vocal training and techniques, as well as Studio Engineering, Music Technology and Music Business. I have extensive experience in the world of musical theatre, on both sides of the curtain! My credits include “Calamity Jane”, “Anything Goes”, “Guys and Dolls” (nominated for best Musical Director), “Little Shop Of Horrors”, “9 To 5” and “The Addams Family”. Most recently I received another “Best Musical Director” nomination for my work on “Treasure Island – The Panto” and I am currently MD for a youth production of “Shrek Jnr.”.

My students receive a thorough grounding in correct and safe vocal technique, underpinned by my years of classical training, together with a more modern outlook in the context of today’s ever-evolving music industry.

I offer examination opportunities through ABRSM, Rockschool (RSL), Trinity and LAMDA. Many of my students are actively involved in musical ensembles such as Chamber Choir, Halle Youth Choir and Manchester Musical Youth (MMY). I have coached many students for entry to prestigious performing arts institutions including Laine Theatre Arts, Urdang, Italia Conti, The Hammond, Emil Dale, and Junior RNCM. I enjoy an extremely high success rate with examinations and auditions and I am extremely proud of what my students achieve! I currently have former students performing professionally in the musicals “Starlight Express”, “Into The Woods” and “Phantom Of The Opera” in the West End!

Anyone who is keen to learn is welcome in my lessons – all ages, all genres and all levels of ability! Lessons are individually tailored to the goals and aspirations of each student, whether that be for a future career, GCSE or A-Level work, or simply for their own enjoyment.

Music is my passion and my life, and through teaching, I can share my love of music with others.
