About

About

I am extremely enthusiastic when it comes to both playing and teaching the piano. I started learning at age six and never stopped. I enjoy a wide range of styles, from early music on harpsichord, organ, fortepiano through to modern-day piano, with all the repertoire along the way.

As well as being classically trained, I enjoy modern styles such as film music and popular music. I am happy to switch from Rachmaninov to Yann Tiersen or Couperin to La La Land. I particularly enjoy the teaching side of learning piano music, specifically finding methods to suit the individual. Cultivating an efficient learning process, building solid technique and then having the creativity to bring the music to life is a wonderful thing. I really enjoy sharing this with students and find it immensely rewarding to hear their enjoyment, progress and excellent results.

Music Qualifications & Achievements:

My qualifications are:

  • ABRSM grades 3 to 8 piano all with distinction
  • LRSM Piano Performing (2001) with distinction
  • BSc(Hons) Acoustics and Music
  • MA Music Performance

For my grades 7 and 8, I achieved the highest exam results in the county and at degree level, I also achieved the highest performance grades in the year. I feel immensely proud to see my students who wish to take exams, continuing my record of high achievement when they are also awarded consistent distinctions. I appreciate that exams are not for everyone and many of my students wish to play purely for pleasure. I am very happy to guide individuals through their own musical journey and always, the most important thing for me is that the student really enjoys what they are studying. Music should be fun.
