About STEPHEN MURRELL
I started learning guitar at 12 years of age and progressed through Trinity college classical guitar grades until passing grade 8, I then started learning electric and acoustic steel string guitar in all styles rock, blues, pop, jazz, fingerstyle and theory. When reaching the age of 17 I then played with various musicians in several bands around the local area.
I started teaching guitar at 25 years of age on a one to one basis from my home and also taught for Berkshire Maestro’s (formerly Berkshire Young Musicians Trust) teaching classical guitar in schools within the Berkshire area. Since then I have taught the electric and steel string acoustic guitar for Wellington College, Bearwood College, Hampshire Music Services, Thames Valley University, Reading College (now Thames Valley University) and Yamaha Music Schools. My teaching experience has therefore covered over 40 years.
