About Penny Bird

I am a qualified music teacher with over 30 years’ experience teaching singing and piano to students of all ages and abilities. Over the years I have taught in a wide range of settings, from private one-to-one lessons to independent schools, and have helped pupils develop their voices, confidence and musicality from beginner level through to advanced exam grades and performance.

I have extensive experience preparing students for singing examinations and have successfully entered pupils for ABRSM exams across all grades for many years. I teach a broad range of styles, including classical, musical theatre and jazz, and enjoy adapting my teaching to suit each individual student.

Alongside teaching, I have been a professional and semi-professional singer for many years, including singing with the London Philharmonic Choir and the Finchley Children’s Music Group from a young age. This performance experience gives me a practical understanding of technique, interpretation and stage confidence, which I love to share with my students.

I am passionate about helping every student discover their own voice and enjoy making music, whether they are learning for pleasure, preparing for an exam or hoping to develop their performance skills.

Cancelation & Rescheduling Policy

Cancellation Policy

Block-booked lessons
Lessons paid for in advance are reserved specifically for the student. If I am unable to teach due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, the lesson will always be made up or rearranged at a mutually convenient time. If a student is absent due to illness, I will always endeavour to arrange a catch-up lesson where possible, although I cannot guarantee that this will be possible.

Weekly lessons
For students paying on a weekly basis, a minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellation. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will normally be charged at the full lesson rate, as the lesson time has been reserved exclusively for the student.

I understand that occasionally unexpected circumstances arise, and I will always try to be as reasonable and accommodating as possible.
