| About |
I grew up wanting to play the piano, but that didn’t happen. When I was 30 years old, I decided who is stopping me now, and started lessons. Go forward a few years, and I started teaching in 1995. I took various professional development courses to keep myself up to date, and still do. I must say that after all these years teaching piano and theory, my love of music hasn’t diminished. I love that I can take students on their musical journey, and hopefully plant the love of music seeds that will last a lifetime.
When I started the age group, I was teaching was 6 and up. I prepared students for piano practical exams as well as theory through the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. I’m very proud of the marks my students received. Over time, I found I was getting younger students and today teach preschoolers, age 4 and 5, and go up from there. It can be challenging, however, when you see the smiles and the fun they are having, that is a good reward.
Forward to today and COVID. Everything changed when it hit us. It’s been a hard two years; however, I started my lessons online until we could have students back in my studio. I can now offer in-studio and online lessons.
Music Qualifications & Achievements:
When I took lessons when I was younger, work really got in the way, and as I’ve learned ‘no practice does make perfect.’ So, I worked on my career. Then I had the opportunity to stay at home and dug into lessons.
I’m very proud of the work I put in getting my exams done and I’ve gone on to take a couple of pedagogy courses, attended many seminars, and still take various courses to keep my head in the game.
