About Ollie Talbot

Hello! I’m Ollie and I’ve just graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with a first in Jazz Performance: whilst I majored in drum-kit, I am also grew up a classically trained pianist (grade 8 distinction), which I pursued as a second study.

-During my time in Birmingham, I worked with a youth music scheme through which I led weekly creative workshops for upward of 30 primary-secondary pupils (SoundLab).

-I continue to be a tutor on the Jazz Saturday/Summer-school programme at the Birmingham Symphony Hall (B:Music).

-For the last 6 years I have taught privately, one-to-one, in experiencing myself for my current role as visiting piano teacher at St Albans primary school, Cambridge.

-In addition to my experience, I have an advanced dbs and am also Mental First Aid trained (MHFA).

Being a recent graduate, I am still empathetic of pupils’ position and what is wanted from their teacher. My endeavours in jazz and contemporary classical improvisation enable me to approach teaching with creativity and open-mindedness.

I prioritise a happiness and love for my music in general, knowing that good technique allows us to explore this more easily, always, with the thought of what is necessary in the moment.

It would be my pleasure to share my love and excitement for music with you! Please get in touch if you are interested in lessons in piano and/or drum kit and we can discuss what I offer in terms of grades/ analytical listening sessions/ philosophy etc. – My teaching style is adaptable to the pupil!

My warmest wishes,

Ollie
