About

About

I’m a music teacher because the job of “Mad Scientist” didn’t seem financially viable. My motto is “I like to have fun around here”, because I think learning is and should be inherently fun!

I have a Grade 8 certificate in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Music Composition from Western University. I’ve taught/tutored for most of my life, but I started teaching music as a full-time career in February 2021.

I am nonbinary and autistic, and I have experience teaching students with special needs. My teaching style is structured around empathy and active listening. I want to understand what music and art mean to you, and help you discover how to interact with music in ways that bring you the most joy.

I use a classical foundation to teach performance technique, but I’m more than happy to explore different styles and genres! For example, one of my vocal students loves metal music, and I’m helping him learn how to develop a healthy and sustainable “scream” sound. Everyone finds music appealing for a reason, and I would be thrilled to help you perform the music you’re passionate about!
