About Nicole McClelland
A child prodigy, Nicole taught herself to read music at seven years of age. After three years of piano lessons and at age fourteen, she began substitute teaching for beginning piano students. She picked up the violin through the Davis schools’ music programs at age eight and come age twelve, slid into the role of concert master for the Davis Combined Junior High Orchestras.
She began private lessons with Angelo Moreno shortly afterward and also began playing professionally around the same time. She formed a quartet and performed at venues including open houses and weddings. She performed live at the local Davis radio station, KDRT.
At fourteen, Nicole briefly joined the UC Davis Baroque Ensemble conducted by Michael Sand and Phoebe Craig. She joined the UC Davis Symphony for a summer session the same year.
Nicole is currently a retired performing artist, though she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. She established the Brown Academy of Music in 2023. She enjoys teaching composition and theory in addition to piano technique. She holds quarterly recitals at a recital hall in Davis.
