I’ve been teaching guitar full time for 20 years, I currently work at 4 local schools as well as maintaining my private pupils. For pupils wishing to do exams, I use the Rockschool and the Trinity syllabuses, but I’m also aware that exams aren’t for everyone, and that musical skill isn’t always best evaluated in that manner – so I’m always happy to just help people learn to strum along with their favourite songs if that’s their choice. Enjoying the process is absolutely the key and is my focus at all times, practice can be a slog so I aim to promote strategies to help with that. I aim to forge long-term partnerships with pupils; some I have taught from primary through to university and beyond, it’s a priviledge to be able to do this.
